The White Horse is an independent gastropub and hotel, located between Faversham and Canterbury, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. The menu is fresh, globally-inspired and changes seasonally. We are seeking an enthusiastic and passionate Head Chef to lead our kitchen team in delivering exceptional culinary experiences. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in food preparation and restaurant management, with a commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety and quality. As the Head Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing all kitchen operations, ensuring that our dishes not only meet but exceed our guests' expectations.
Head Chef experience is preferable but for the right candidate we would be willing to provide training and help to grow into the position
Responsibilities
Lead and manage the kitchen team, fostering a collaborative and positive work environment.
Oversee food preparation and cooking processes to ensure consistency and quality in all dishes.
Develop and implement innovative menus that reflect current culinary trends while catering to customer preferences.
Supervise kitchen staff, providing training and guidance to enhance their skills and performance.
Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain a clean, organised kitchen environment.
Manage inventory levels, including ordering supplies and minimising waste.
Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery.
Assist in budgeting and cost control measures to maintain profitability without compromising quality.
Requirements
Strong culinary skills with a deep understanding of food preparation techniques.
Excellent team management abilities, with experience supervising kitchen staff.
Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in the kitchen environment.
Ability to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
Creative flair for menu development and presentation of dishes.
Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with both kitchen and front-of-house teams.
