Position Overview: We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Head Chef (or Sous Chef ready to take on their first HC role) to lead our culinary team at a bustling live music venue renowned for its vibrant atmosphere and diverse Pan-Asian menu. The successful candidate will be responsible for upholding the highest standards of food hygiene and health safety, demonstrating an eagerness for delivering exceptional quality through simple yet delicious cookery. As the Head Chef, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining a clean, compliant kitchen, ensuring well-maintained equipment, placing food orders, and overseeing evening services in a high-energy environment. Key Responsibilities:

  • Culinary Leadership: Lead and inspire a small team of culinary professionals to consistently deliver top-quality Pan-Asian dishes that align with our venue\'s unique ambiance and customer expectations.
  • Menu Development: Collaborate with the Executive Chef to create and refine a dynamic Pan-Asian menu that showcases a fusion of flavours, emphasises quality ingredients, and appeals to a diverse audience.
  • Food Hygiene & Safety: Maintain a comprehensive understanding of food hygiene and health safety standards, including HACCP guidelines. Ensure strict adherence to these standards throughout all food preparation and service activities.
  • Quality Ingredients & Preparation: Infuse your passion for culinary excellence into every dish, prioritising the use of fresh, high-quality ingredients and employing simple yet skilful cooking techniques to create memorable flavours.
  • Kitchen Cleanliness & Maintenance: Uphold impeccable cleanliness and organisation within the kitchen space, ensuring that all surfaces, equipment, and utensils are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and functionality.
  • Order Placement & Inventory Management: Efficiently manage food inventory by placing timely orders, monitoring stock levels, and minimising wastage while maintaining a steady supply of ingredients to meet operational demands.
  • Evening Services: Lead and orchestrate kitchen operations during busy evening services, overseeing food preparation, plating, and timely delivery to ensure an exceptional dining experience for our guests.
  • Team Training & Development: Train, mentor, and develop kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and motivated work environment that encourages skill growth and teamwork.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Collaborate closely with front-of-house staff, management, and suppliers to ensure seamless coordination of kitchen operations, address customer preferences, and adapt to evolving market trends.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a Head Chef or in a similar senior culinary role, preferably within a fast-paced restaurant.
  • In-depth knowledge of Pan-Asian cuisine, culinary techniques, and trends preferred but not essential.
  • Certification in food safety and hygiene (HACCP) and a strong commitment to maintaining these standards.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a high-energy, fast-paced environment and effectively manage stress during peak operational hours.
  • Flexibility to work approximately 48 hours per week, including weekends and evenings.
  • Strong multitasking capabilities and attention to detail.
  • Creativity and a passion for experimenting with flavours while adhering to the venue\'s culinary vision.
  • Basic IT skills (MS Office) preferred
