The Lyneham Inn is an established, family-run pub in Plympton, just outside Plymouth. After being closed for almost a year, we're excited to be reopening soon under new management, bringing fresh energy, great food, and a welcoming atmosphere back to this much-loved local. We're now looking for an experienced and passionate

Head Chef

to help relaunch the kitchen and lead the team with creativity, pride, and enthusiasm.

The Role:

You'll be responsible for the day-to-day running of the kitchen, including food preparation, menu planning, ordering, and maintaining the highest standards of quality and hygiene. You'll lead by example, keeping a calm head under pressure while motivating and developing your team.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage and oversee all kitchen operations. Lead, train, and support the kitchen team to deliver consistent, high-quality dishes. Create and develop menus and specials using fresh, seasonal ingredients. Take responsibility for ordering, stock control, and supplier management. Ensure all food hygiene and safety standards are met. Work closely with management to ensure smooth service and customer satisfaction. Maintain portion control, minimise waste, and manage kitchen costs effectively.

About You:

Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef in a busy pub or restaurant. Strong leadership and communication skills - a genuine team player. Creative and passionate about producing great food. Organised, reliable, and able to work well under pressure. Good understanding of costings, ordering systems, and kitchen management. Food Hygiene Level 3 (minimum) required.
