The Rising Sun has been owned by Abbeydale Brewery (SIBA Business Awards Employer of the Year 2025) since 2005. In October 2024 the business made history by becoming Employee Owned, meaning all staff are effectively co-owners of the business.
The pub has an excellent local beer offering, but as a progressive venue also a fantastic range of guest beers, quality wine and fine spirits. We balance this with our high-calibre food offering and our clientele appreciate well-executed gastro classics, as well as high quality modern food. We were awarded CAMRA Sheffield Pub of the Year 2022 and Pub of the Year Sheffield West 2023 and 2025.
We believe in doing things the right way, so all our food is fresh and the vast majority locally sourced, including working with local allotment owners on a beer for produce scheme and other independent small businesses.
We are an employee focussed company with excellent staff retention and you will have the chance to make your own mark and progress your career in the way you want. We work hard to ensure a high quality of work/life balance for our staff and to provide an enjoyable working atmosphere where staff feel valued and able to contribute directly to the success of the business. We have elected Employee Representatives who sit on the Employee Trust Board to make sure your views are heard, and open lines of communication directly to senior managers within the business.
