We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Head Chef to lead our kitchen team in delivering exceptional dining experiences. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of kitchen operations, ensuring high standards of food quality, safety, and presentation. Main Responsibilities



Lead and supervise the kitchen team, fostering a positive and productive working environment. Oversee all aspects of kitchen operations, including food production, cooking, and ensuring dishes meet quality standards and are prepared efficiently. Develop and design menus that cater to the diverse dietary needs and preferences of our residents. Engagement with residents is essential. Manage food safety protocols, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations at all times. Organise staff schedules, delegate tasks, and monitor performance to maintain high levels of service. Control stock levels, order supplies, and minimise waste to optimise operational efficiency. Train staff on food preparation techniques, presentation standards, and hygiene practices. Collaborate with front-of-house teams to understand residents' preferences and dietary restrictions. Maintain cleanliness and organisation within the kitchen environment. Monitor costs and budgets and manage supplier relationships to ensure the availability of fresh ingredients.

Essential Experience:



Minimum 3 years' experience working in a catering environment. Previous experience working in a care home, supported living, or a similar setting where person-centred, home-cooked meals are provided. Experience delivering meals to individuals with specialised dietary requirements, including: Allergies, Cultural/religious diets, Soft diets, Fortified meals, Diabetic-friendly meals, Modified texture diets (IDDSI framework). Extensive culinary experience with a strong background in food production and preparation. Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage a diverse team effectively. In-depth knowledge of food safety standards and regulations. Experience in menu development, food presentation, and cooking techniques. Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask under pressure. Excellent communication skills to coordinate with staff and management effectively. Knowledge of serving procedures and customer service excellence is advantageous.

Qualifications

:

Level 2 Food Hygiene and Safety Certificate (essential and must be in date). Level 3 in Catering or equivalent qualification. (desirable). Allergen Awareness Training (required- can be provided if needed). Health and Safety Awareness Training e.g. COSHH, Manual handling (desirable).

Pay: 17.00-18.50 per hour
