The Delaval Arms is a coastal gastropub with big ambitions. Known for its sea views, relaxed atmosphere, and honest cooking, the venue has steadily built a reputation for quality and consistency, and now deserves to be recognised among the region's best.

We're looking for a Head Chef who shares that vision, someone ready to lead a kitchen focused on seasonal, high-standard gastropub food, showcase the best of local produce, and push The Delaval Arms further onto the culinary map.

The role

You'll oversee all aspects of kitchen operations, from the main restaurant to our outdoor cooking setup and first-floor function space. Expect to deliver refined but approachable dishes, celebrate the seasons, and maintain the standards that make guests return week after week.

This is a hands-on role suited to a chef who wants to build something lasting, not just manage it.

What we're looking for

Proven background in a quality gastropub or restaurant setting Passion for seasonal cooking, presentation, and local ingredients Calm, organised leadership, a team-builder, not a shouter Ability to manage outdoor and function catering alongside daily service Experience with GP control, ordering, and supplier relationships High standards in cleanliness, food safety, and consistency
