Job Description

To plan and provide nutritious meals to all residents on a daily basis, ensuring food purchased is fresh and within budget.

1. To direct and supervise Kitchen staff and to ensure that they are aware of their responsibilities with regards to food hygiene and preparation, and Health and Safety requirements.

2. To monitor the work of the Cook and Kitchen Assistant and report to the Home Manager and Facilities Manager as appropriate.

3. To prepare duty rotas for the Kitchen Staff.

4. To ensure that a good standard of hygiene and cleanliness is maintained throughout the kitchen, to meet the required standards of practice prescribed by Environmental Health Agencies.

5. To ensure all equipment used is well maintained, in good working order and to log any defects and report the Home Manager & Facilities Manager.

6. To prepare, cook and present well-balanced meals and beverages to the highest quality incorporating, cultural and dietary needs as required by the residents and precise instructions from Doctors, Home Manager, Nutritionist or another appropriate person.

7. To ensure that the Residents choices and preferences are met.

8. To purchase supplies in accordance with the planned menu, whilst monitoring and controlling the service from suppliers.

9. To work closely with the Home Manager, by maintaining the catering budget.

10. To maintain and check First Aid equipment within the kitchen.

11. To maintain an accurate stock control.

12. To carry out good food management, temperature controls and HACCP documentation according to current food hygiene regulations.

13. To be compliant with Fire, Health and Safety Requirements.

14. To ensure that the storage of all cleaning materials conforms to the Home's COSHH policy.

15. To carry out any other reasonable duties as and when required by the organisation.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 15.00-16.50 per hour
