Duties:
- Oversee all aspects of food preparation and production in the kitchen
- Create and develop new menu items and recipes
- Ensure that all food is prepared to the highest quality standards
- Manage inventory and order supplies as needed
- Train and supervise kitchen staff, including assigning tasks and monitoring performance
- Maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment
- Adhere to all food safety and sanitation regulations
- Collaborate with restaurant owner to develop seasonal menus and specials
- Monitor food costs and work to maximise profitability
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and innovations in culinary techniques
Skills:
- Strong leadership abilities, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team
- Excellent cooking skills, with a focus on quality and presentation
- Thorough knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices
- Proficient in all aspects of food preparation, including but not limited to: knife skills, cooking techniques, flavor profiles, etc.
- Experience in team management, including scheduling, training, and performance evaluation
- Culinary creativity and the ability to develop unique menu items
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritise effectively
- Familiarity with kitchen equipment and its proper use and maintenance
- Previous experience working in a restaurant or similar food service establishment
