About the Role
South Essex Gymnastics Club is seeking an experienced and passionate
Head Coach / Head of Women's Artistic
to lead, shape, and manage our large Women's Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) programme, managing over 20 coaches and around 300 gymnasts. This is a leadership and development role focused on the strategic growth and sustainability of the WAG structure. While coaching may be part of the role, the primary responsibilities lie in programme oversight, staff management, and financial monitoring--not daily coaching delivery.
As part of SEGC's leadership team, the successful candidate will work closely with our Assistant Head Coach, fellow Head Coaches, managers, and the Director of Coaching. The role will involve overseeing programme development, ensuring financial and structural sustainability, supporting staff progression, and maintaining high-quality standards across the department.
Key Responsibilities
Provide strong leadership and strategic direction for the Women's Artistic programme.
Manage, support, and develop a diverse team of coaches and staff.
Monitor and manage the financial health of the WAG programme, including budgeting and resource allocation.
Oversee the structure and scheduling of training programmes, ensuring efficiency and alignment with Club goals.
Work collaboratively across departments to maintain a unified Club culture.
Communicate professionally with gymnasts, parents, and staff, representing SEGC with integrity and warmth.
Lead on planning for internal club WAG specific events
Contribute to wider Club activities and events as part of the senior leadership team.
Person Specification
Essential:
Significant leadership experience within a Women's Artistic Gymnastics environment.
Strong understanding of WAG structures and programme planning.
Excellent organisational and communication skills.
Proven ability to manage and motivate a team, resolving challenges professionally.
Financial awareness and ability to oversee budgets.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and attend competitions and events as required.
Passionate, driven, and committed to delivering excellence within gymnastics.
Desirable:
Appropriate BG (British Gymnastics) coaching qualification.
Experience working in a high-performance or club development setting.
Familiarity with Safeguarding, Equity, and Inclusion policies in sport.
Additional Information
This role will be based at our
Basildon facility
, though occasional travel to
Eversley
and other venues may be expected. Contracted hours may vary to support Club events, competitions, or training camps.
