Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable grounds maintenance team lead/head gardener to manage a van and team. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for horticulture and landscape maintenance, demonstrating proficiency in the use of hand tools and power tools. A strong background in garden maintenace and landscaping experience is essential for success in this position.

Duties

Managing a small team, of 1 or 2, in a van. Visiting scheduled customers across Chesterfield, Dronfield and South Sheffield. Confident and ability to give direction with good time management. Operate hand tools and power tools safely and effectively for various gardening tasks. Conduct regular landscape maintenance, including mowing, pruning, weeding, and mulching. Monitor plant health and identify any pests or diseases, taking appropriate action as needed. To understand the importance of high quality customer service, taking pride in offering care and compassion to clients homes and spaces. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of gardening equipment and supplies, including vehicles. To be willing to work on a self employed basis, with reduced hours during wet seasons (although we endeavour to ensure on-going work year round) Confidence and integrity to manage a van and a small team, work independently as a foreman on various commercial and domestic properties.

Experience

Proven experience in gardening, landscaping and horticulture management essential. Familiarity with landscape maintenance practices is advantageous. Experience in operating irrigation systems effectively. Proficiency with hand tools and power tools related to gardening tasks. A strong understanding of plant care, growth cycles, and environmental factors affecting plant health.
Essential-

Full UK driving licence.

2 years gardening/landscaping experience

Team leader or foreman experience.

Proven knowledge or qualifications in horticulture, gardening or ground management.

Please note. This is a self employed position in a seasonal industry. Where we endeavour to offer fulltime work all year round, the weather and other factors may alter to level of work available.

Pay: From 14.44 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 25 per week
