Job Description

We are looking for a Head Housekeeper to work within our busy island hotel. Come and work with our experienced, friendly and highly motivated team and experience life on the beautiful island of Iona.

The Argyll Hotel is a 17 bedroom hotel and restaurant located off the West Coast of Scotland on the island of Iona. Iona is a very popular holiday destination with tourists being attracted by its beautiful beaches, outstanding views and ancient abbey. Both the hotel and restaurant are highly regarded and consequently are extremely busy during the season.

We currently have a vacancy for a Head Housekeeper, starting on 12th March and finishing on 29th October.

The position involves working 5 days out of 7 cleaning and carrying out housekeeping duties throughout the hotel.

The ideal candidate will be punctual, hardworking and conscientious. They will be a strong team player, have an excellent eye for detail coupled with a desire to exceed customer expectations.

The position involves ensuring that Hotel rooms are efficiently maintained to an exceptional standard based on the daily turnover of guests. They will also be responsible for ensuring that all laundry is washed, dried and ironed to the highest level.

Due to the nature of the role, the candidate should be able to work comfortably under their own initiative, though will also be expected to lead the assistant housekeeper and, from time to time, other housekeeping assistants.

They will also be responsible for maintaining the stock level of housekeeping products and monitoring hotel linen requirements.

Previous experience as a housekeeper would be preferable though is not essential.

The position will pay 14.50 per hour and also includes a share of tips (Averaged over 300 per month last year (not guaranteed))

Accommodation and meals can be provided with a deduction made from wages to cover the cost.
