1. The promotion and maintenance of a high standard of service within the care home.
2. To ensure the clean and hygienic maintenance of the home.
3. To keep a high standard of appearance in all areas and contribute to the quality of care and life style afforded to each resident. This is particularly applicable to each person's privacy and dignity and in respect of each resident's personal possessions.
Main Duties
1. To clean all allocated rooms, including furniture, fittings, fabric, floors and equipment to set standards.
2. To clean and disinfect all bathrooms and toilets.
3. Cleaning of resident's individual rooms and performing of domestic work including, but not limited to, cleaning and washing of all items in situ and all surfaces.
4. To ensure that all cleaning chemicals are used correctly and economically.
5. Handle chemicals according to Health & Safety and COSHH guidelines. Keep all cleaning agents and chemicals locked away when not in use.
6. To clean sanitary and other equipment paying particular attention to guidelines for the control of bacteria and spread of infections.
7. Dispose of all clinical waste within guidelines.
8. To adhere to infection control policies at all times.
9. To follow the correct use of colour code systems within the Home.
10. Ensure that daily and deep cleaning schedules are adhered to.
11. To report any malfunction of equipment or fittings that require maintenance, or that cannot be kept to the standard through normal cleaning procedures and in the maintenance book.
12. To ensure the disposal of waste policy is adhered to at all times.
13. Carry out any other reasonable instructions of the Home's Manager.
14. Carry out other ad-hoc duties as requested by the Home's Management.
15. To ensure trolleys are re-stocked at the end of the shift and cleaning cupboards are left clean and tidy.
16. To be sensitive to the privacy and individual needs of the residents.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities for Domestic / Housekeeping Supervisor:
1)
Train, mentor and supervise members of the domestic team.
2)
Carry out work-based competency assessments with members of the domestic team in all areas of their work.
3)
Delegate work fairly to members of the domestic team and ensure that this work is carried out to an acceptable standard.
4)
Make certain that processes are in place to ensure regular, comprehensive cleaning is carried out in all areas of the building.
5)
Encourage all members of the domestic team to improve quality of life or the service provided.
6)
To solve problems and make decision in the best interests of the business and the residents.
7)
Carry out regular stock takes of all commodities relating to the housekeeping services of the business and to place orders for the replenishment of such commodities by the designated supplier(s).
8)
Where appropriate, to assist the management with domestic staff rotas and /or to assist the management with covering shifts due to the absence of domestic staff.
9)
Have a full knowledge of procedures to be followed in the event of an emergency and to instruct staff in accordance with these procedures.
10)
Report to the management as required regarding the performance and / or conduct of the domestic staff team.
