Job Purpose:



The

Head Housekeeper

is a key member of the senior management team at Weston Park, responsible for overseeing the strategic direction and daily operation of the housekeeping department.

This role requires a leader who combines operational expertise with a meticulous eye for detail, and a strong commitment to excellence in both guest experience and heritage conservation.

Accountabilities



Strategic & Leadership Responsibilities



Lead and develop the housekeeping function as a professional, guest-focused service aligned with Weston Park's brand and operational objectives. Contribute to senior-level discussions on service delivery, staff structure, and long-term planning. Create and manage departmental budgets, controlling costs while maintaining five-star presentation standards. Recruit, train, and develop a skilled and motivated team capable of delivering high-quality service across a variety of events and guest stays. Maintain strong working relationships with senior colleagues across Events, Hospitality, Estates, and Facilities Management.

Operational Management



Oversee all aspects of housekeeping for the main house, guest accommodation, public areas, and estate properties. Implement and maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation, and service excellence. Develop robust procedures and quality control systems to ensure consistency and compliance. Lead on scheduling, staff planning, and resource allocation based on events and peak seasons. Ensure all health & safety, COSHH, and safeguarding requirements are met and reviewed regularly. Champion sustainability and best practice in housekeeping operations and procurement. Lead refurbishing projects with a designer Work closely with the maintenance team

Guest & Heritage Care



Personally oversee the presentation and readiness of the estate for VIP guests, weddings, and special events. Ensure the care and handling of heritage furnishings, fabrics, and antiques is delivered to conservation standards. Respond professionally to guest feedback, resolving any issues promptly and constructively. Support the development of guest-focused experiences that reflect the unique character and history of Weston Park.

Skills, Training and Knowledge Required



Essential:



Significant leadership experience in a senior housekeeping or estate management role, preferably in a luxury, heritage, or hotel environment.

Strong operational management skills with the ability to lead teams and manage large-scale cleaning, presentation, and event readiness.

Excellent interpersonal skills with a calm, confident, and professional manner.

Experience of managing budgets and procurement.

An understanding of working in a heritage property or sensitive environment.

Commitment to delivering excellence in guest experience and attention to detail.

Excellent leadership and team management skills to oversee a diverse team.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address complex operational issues.

Proficiency in project management methodologies.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with stakeholders across the organisation.

IT Skills, including Excel and Word

Excellent time management and ability to multi-task and prioritise work

Attention to detail.

People/ Rota management experience

Desirable:



Experience working within a listed building, museum, or historic environment.

Knowledge of conservation cleaning practices.

Formal qualifications in hospitality or facilities management.

Full UK driving licence.
