We are seeking a Head of Brand, Marketing and Communications to creatively convey our vision, helping to grow student numbers and reinforce our role and reputation in shaping a better future for Wales and the wider world.


In this role, you'll enthusiastically drive the planning, development and implementation of a unified brand and marketing strategy that effectively supports the achievement of student recruitment targets. You will lead on the external and internal communications strategies and ensure that Cardiff Met is known for its positive impact on Cardiff, Wales, the UK and beyond. As a collaborative leader, you'll align your approach with Cardiff Met's Strategy 2030, cultivating a department known for excellence. Crucially, you'll maintain high standards in all our content, ensuring Cardiff Met's vision and values are clearly communicated. You'll also build trusted partnerships with senior stakeholders across the institution to deliver exceptional service and drive impactful outcomes.


You'll shape the direction by:

Guiding the development and delivery of high-quality content to support the University's strategic objectives, particularly in student recruitment. Continually review, develop and improve the University's approach to marketing and communications; working with our academic schools and senior stakeholders to understand their requirements and create a positive collaborative culture. Working closely with the Strategy, Planning and Performance team in compiling and analysing statistical data to inform marketing strategies, including intelligence relating to competitors, and the profiling of prospective students. Oversee the development of campaigns that cover the undergraduate and postgraduate recruitment cycles, targeting UK and international markets. Developing a communications strategy that reaches all stakeholders and ensuring that marketing and communications work together to maximise impact across all audiences.

What you'll bring




With a track record of implementing marketing and communications strategies that deliver tangible business outcomes, you'll be an influential leader with the ability to creatively advance the University's messaging across all audiences. Your highly professional approach to work will allow you to build collaborative relationships at a senior level, influencing senior academic colleagues, bringing about positive change. Experience of leading a multi-skilled team, well developed leadership skills and a clear passion for developing motivated teams is highly important.


Additionally you'll have:

Outstanding awareness and expertise in digital content creation, creative problem solving and strategic thinking skills. Extensive knowledge of digital and traditional marketing techniques. Good working knowledge of brand management and the marketing mix. Up to date understanding of the latest marketing and social media developments. Experience of overseeing creative and media resources either in-house or working with specialist marketing suppliers. Experience of managing relationships with media and developing PR campaigns. Developing communications strategies that meet the information needs of a wide variety of different stakeholders.
