What is the opportunity?
We have an exciting vacancy for the Head of Business Architecture to join our team in the Jersey or London offices. As a rapidly growing organisation, RBC Wealth Management Europe (WME) is committed to establishing a formal Business Architecture (BA) Centre of Excellence (CoE) with the aims of providing in-depth understanding and insight into WME's current state capabilities, enabling and guiding the business to make data-led decision on the direction and implementation of strategic change, and working in partnership with Technology and Data Architects to deliver architectural insight, guidance, standards and tooling to RBC's Wealth Management business in Europe.
RBC's expectation is that all employees and contractors will work in the office with some flexibility to work up to 1 day per week remotely, depending on working arrangements.
What will you do?
Establish and grow the team of Business and Process Architects, focused on creating an enduring capability and delivering meaningful value across WME. Includes identifying and bringing together current Architectural capabilities.
Provide strategic leadership to ensure focus on the highest value / impactful work.
Working with senior leadership to ensure BA is championed and adopted well within the organisation.
Implement engagement and governance structures to facilitate effective working practices with other architecture functions (Technology and Data) across WME, to provide a single Architecture 'front door' to the business.
Support the team to develop architectural tools, techniques and standards (artefact library) and champion their embedding across the business.
Lead teams to deliver consultative engagements within the business and change teams to provide assessment, guidance and recommendations on early strategy thinking / change to delivery to enable better business outcomes.
Support teams to effectively challenge and recommend alternative approaches, including with senior stakeholders.
Ensure consistent delivery of these consultative engagements - time, activities and outcomes.
Develop frameworks to ensure business value is assessed and is a key input into the strategy and implementation plans.
Lead the business engagement to ensure that Business Architecture, and artefacts / standards, have visibility of all major change processes.
Support the Business and Process Architects to continually capture and assess the current state, including knowledge of upcoming changes, and opportunities for growth.
Guide prioritisation of activities based on strategic alignment.
Build a periodic review and sign off mechanism from business and process owners creating accountability and ensuring accurate current status.
Lead the development of 'guardrails' to support continuous improvement and rapid benefit delivery within governed structures.
Work with senior leadership to recognise and celebrate business teams championing continuous improvement.
Support the BA team to provide coaching and ongoing development to grow the continuous improvement culture.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
Prior experience of successfully delivering regulatory projects within financial services.
Strategy and consulting/advisory background bringing transformation experience.
Ability to effectively navigate organisational complexity.
Collaboration and ability to build strong, trusted relationships.
Team leadership - supporting a team of SMEs.
Data driven decision making, e.g. OKRs.
Ability to effectively engage and influence senior stakeholders from across the business.
Excellent communication, including delivery of meaningful business feedback.
Knowledge and experience working as and with business/process architects.
Working with technology and/or data teams to collaboratively deliver business outcomes.
Shaping business strategy, including operating model design and rollout.
Complex benefits case development, e.g. multi-year delivery.
Knowledge of change governance models.
Successfully establishing a new function within an existing organisation.
Working with Exec level stakeholders on a regular basis and being part of decision making.
Nice-to-have
Understanding of WME's strategy, goals and current state operating model beneficial.
