The Vacancy
Head of Business Assurance
You will be responsible for the delivery of the strategic risk management and internal controls framework, reporting against Regulatory standards, the oversight of compliance with Data Protection legislation for the organisation and the oversight of tenant scrutiny arrangements for the Group.
What you'll be doing
Leading the Business Assurance function across the whole organisation, including attendance at all Audit & Assurance Committees and at Board as appropriate
Overseeing the successful ongoing delivery of the business assurance model including the internal controls framework, internal audit programme, and effective assurance mapping
Developing and comprehensively embedding a risk management framework throughout the organisation. To be the organisational expert and point of contact for all matters relating to risk from a corporate, departmental and project perspective
Acting as the organisational strategic lead on compliance with all aspects of Data Protection legislation
Ensuring the organisation meets all the requirements of the regulatory framework, that this is reviewed annually, and that Great Places is fully prepared for any regulatory contact including a regulatory inspection
To respond to regulatory changes and ensure the business is made aware of the full range of implications
To act as the process owner for business assurance function activities, ensuring there is accurate and up to date process documentation and guidance available
To act as contract manager for any outsourced business assurance activities e.g. Internal Audit
To lead on adhoc projects, task and finish groups etc as required
What you'll need
Educated to degree level or equivalent or work experience demonstrating graduate level ability
Proven experience of working closely with internal audit and building relationships
A track record of turning policy and strategy into operational results
A track record of leading and inspiring teams to achieve high levels of performance
Good understanding of risk management
Experience of developing strategies, policies and systems which support service delivery, effectiveness and improvement
Analytical skills that contribute effectively to the identification of developments, trends, prioritisation and problem solving
An understanding of the effects of discrimination and exclusion against certain groups of customers and employees and ability to eradicate discrimination through the promotion of inclusion and equality of opportunities.
A good working understanding of data protection requirements within the housing sector
What we need from you
As a member of the Great Places Heads of Service team you will be participating in Leading Together (our Head of Service Group) who meet regularly to work collaboratively to support wider business corporate priorities; you may also be required to represent your business area on one of Great Places other forums
