Our 'not for profit' organisation is dedicated to making a positive impact in our community by providing essential services and support to those in need.

Fundraising is critical to sustaining our work, and we are seeking an experienced and motivated Head of Business & Donor Development to strengthen and grow our fundraising effort's.

Position



The Head of Business & Donor Development will be responsible for planning, developing, and implementing a comprehensive fundraising strategy to ensure the charity's financial sustainability and continued success. This role involves engaging with donors at all levels, and to engage and generate fresh new income streams as well as maintaining and nurturing existing relationships.

You will work autonomously most of the time, with opportunities for collaboration on projects as needed.

Key aspects of this role include:

Managing relationships and fundraising initiatives with individuals, companies and other similar organisations in the Wessex Region and the Channel Islands with a specific focus in Guernsey

Proactively seeking out and building new individual and corporate business relationships that lead to new income opportunities for the charity.

Attending networking and similar such business events which will aid the building and nurturing of potential income-generating relationships. Which sometimes requires the person to work out-of-hours and weekends.

Helping to oversee the work of the Guernsey Liaison.

Organising and overseeing fundraising events as the business requires.

Responsibilities



Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan aligned with the charity's mission and annual revenue targets. Identify, engage, and cultivate relationships with major gift prospects, as well as corporate, foundation and individual donors. Plan and execute high-impact special events to raise funds and engage donors. Provide leadership and guidance, when required, to a team of fundraising professionals, including setting goals, monitoring performance, and offering coaching and support. Step in to lead the broader team in the Head of Operations absence as part of the senior leadership team. Collaborate closely with the PR Communications/Marketing team to develop donor communications and marketing materials that inspire giving. Develop and maintain donor recognition programs and targeted appeals to strengthen donor relationships. Analyse fundraising data to track performance, identify opportunities, and make data-driven adjustments to strategy. Complete grant applications to secure funding as required. Travel to Guernsey for up to a week at a time on a quarterly basis, as and when the need arises. To continue to build relationships, coordinate events, and increase the charity's profile and donor base. Helping to maintain support from Rotary Club partnerships and pledge schemes.

Experience



Proven experience working in the charity sector or similar such 'not for profit' organisations, with solid knowledge of 'not for profit' management, fundraising principles, and financial and legal compliance.

Minimum of three to five years of experience in non-profit fundraising, including major gifts, corporate, foundation, and individual giving, as well as special events.

Experience with planned giving and digital fundraising is highly desirable.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create persuasive, inspiring donor communications.

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and volunteers if the if required.

Proficiency in fundraising software and donor databases, with the ability to analyse and interpret data to drive effective strategies.

Strategic thinking skills, with the ability to identify challenges and opportunities, and develop innovative solutions.

Flexibility and adaptability, with the capacity to respond to changing circumstances while maintaining a positive, solutions-focused approach.
