There's no place like Heathrow when it comes to the scale of our ambitions. Together, we're working to welcome millions more passengers while ensuring aviation can continue to be a force for good by leading global efforts in sustainability. Our Communications, Communities and Carbon function brings together engagement, communications and sustainability leadership. This is about more than protecting and enhancing our reputation. Focusing on the experiences of our passengers, colleagues and partners, we ensure that as Heathrow thrives, so too will our people, our communities, our country and our world.
Our sustainability strategy, Heathrow 2.0, is central to everything we do. We are committed to sustainable aviation, as Heathrow works to deliver net zero and build a better place to live and work. We work with industry leading experts to deliver on our ambitions, meeting the growing international demand for flight in a way that creates a positive impact far beyond our airport.
Climate change is Heathrow's top mid- to long-term business risk. The Carbon Strategy team sets the company's net zero strategy, works with every part of the business to translate strategy into delivery, sponsors a 200m capital investment programme in solutions from airspace modernisation to EV charging, provides the analytics to track, forecast and disclose performance and engages key external stakeholders to understand their concerns, tell our story in a compelling away and adapt our approach as required.
The Head of Carbon Strategy is a key strategic role for the company, shaping our strategy on the decarbonisation of our business "in the air" and "on the ground" and hence protecting our future operation and growth prospects. The role is the custodian of our Net Zero Plan, working with every part of the business to develop and maintain plausible but ambitions targets and plans and acting as a key interface with the Carbon & Sustainability Programme in solutions. The role has a significant externally-facing dimension - working with aviation industry partners to develop and maintain a shared industry net zero roadmap, developing and promoting policy solutions to Government officials and political decision-makers and collaborating with academics to research solutions.
