What will this role achieve?
As Head of Commercial Strategy and Insights for pladis UK&I you will own the development of price related insights, optimisation and long-term critical thinking influencing at leadership levels both internally and externally! Your team will influence the pricing and promotional investment architecture, implementation and evaluation of the strategy alongside the Revenue Management Commercial team (RMC), utilising a cross functional team in addition to a direct team of two. A key part of this role will be the need to continue to evolve pladis UK&I approach to Revenue Management and sit on the NRM Leadership team!
What will be your key results?Develop and deliver commercial insight on price & promotions to key internal and external partners to improve pladis and total category returns from promotional plans and in market /kg evolution
Lead understanding of competitor activity and it's impact on the pladis portfolio, focusing on retailer metrics such as price, promotions, feature space, distribution and consumer metrics such as frequency, average weight of purchase and penetration.
Lead 3yr pricing strategy insights, collaborating cross functionally influencing business to ultimately drive sustainable growth of both profit and share.
Further develop tools and insights to influence customer teams on monthly promotional evaluation and return on investment to optimise 250m trade spend through annual target setting.
Lead annual budget inputs with regards to Price/Pack/Promo initiatives providing consumer and category trends, elasticities and price ceilings to support the Revenue Management Commercial team in architecting the Pricing Strategy.
Closely collaborating with Category and Consumer Insights teams to triangulate insight converting into implications for pladis.
Lead insight provision for Innovation to develop and influence pack/price providing competitor and category insight. Leading Innovation pack future evolution.
Lead a project team in future AI tool simulation to drive business efficiencies and more robust decision making.
Continue to develop and lead Revenue Management processes cross functionally to optimise pack/price/promo plans.
Utilise internal and external data to provide operational support to wider NRM team in the optimisation of forward share predictions, course correcting where required.
Develop and coach your team to deliver world class insights and price/ promotional thinking.
What do you need for this role?Proven track record to lead cross functionally
Proficient in use external data sources (Kantar, ACNielsen, Dunnhumby)
P&L Management and analysis
Direct experience in Revenue Management for blue chip FMCG business at senior level
Ability to engage and influence at board level
Line Management experience
Critical thinking with determination to see it through to execution
Strong communication and presentation skills and ability to find simplicity in complexity
Strong analytical and data handling skills
Proven understanding of the retail environment and retail customer base, ideally with customer facing experience
