Job Description

We are looking for a Head of Commercial to lead our Major Projects division within Kier Transportation. This is a nationwide role overseeing projects across the North-East, North-West, Midlands, and South-West regions. Our major projects portfolio currently exceeds 1 billion in value, with delivery spanning several years. In this position, you will report directly to the Commercial Director for Highways and take full responsibility for all commercial aspects of Kier Transportation's Highways Major Projects portfolio.

Location: UK Wide, Salford - travel to the offices required with remote working available
Hours: Permanent Fulltime 40 hours per week, some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us

What will you be responsible for?
As a Head of Commercial, you'll be working within the Highways Major Projects team, leading them in delivering commercial excellence across a portfolio of high-value infrastructure schemes exceeding 1billion.
Your day to day will include:

• Developing and implementing commercial strategies aligned to the wider company business plans and objectives
• Accountable for managing contracts and subcontracts, overseeing financial and commercial planning, implementing risk management strategies, driving procurement approaches and execution, and ensuring project profitability while maintaining full compliance with Kier Transportation Highways' commercial standards.
• Managing a team of Commercial Leads including Commercial Managers, MQ's SQS's, QS's & Apprentice QS's delivering major projects and fostering high performance and development
• Overseeing contract and subcontract negotiations, risk management, and procurement strategy
• Driving forecasting, reporting, and financial performance across the portfolio

What are we looking for?
This role of Head of Commercial is great if you have:

• Academic and professional qualifications commensurate with a Head of Commercial Manager
• Proven experience at a senior commercial level, with the capability to manage schemes valued at 250m and above.
• Ability to inspire, lead, and communicate effectively across diverse teams and projects
• A full driving licence
