Job summary

We are looking for an experienced Head of Content Design to join NS&I on a fixed-term contract for 13 months, to cover a period of maternity leave. You will be responsible for continuing to develop the Content Design team and grow the maturity of the content design discipline at NS&I through delivery against our content design strategy.

You will have a dual focus - providing content leadership and oversight on transitioning content from legacy to new systems, and providing direction on content that supports our Customer Strategy. You will lead the team in designing a wide range of content types - from explainer content that enables potential customers to understand more about our financial products - to help content that guides customers seamlessly through using our services.

You will be an excellent communicator and influencer, collaborating across cross-functional teams to deliver relevant and personalised customer experiences.

You will be used to working with a range of disciplines and stakeholders to plan and manage work, making sure that the team has what they need to deliver, and resolve problems. You will be the senior internal content expert and champion, working with the team to promote content design and engaging with the external content design community, including Government colleagues, so that we keep up to date with industry changes.

Job description

The Head of Content Design is responsible for leading and developing a team of content design professionals while championing the discipline across NS&I.

The primary focus will be providing content leadership and direction through the transition from legacy systems to new digital platforms and content management systems. Once content is transitioned, the focus will shift to leveraging user-centred content design which enhances customer experiences across multiple channels and improves how content is managed and designed.

You will drive a culture of evidence-based decision making when it comes to content design and set the direction for what good content looks like - accountable for ensuring the design of engaging, consistent and accessible content that meets user needs and business objectives.

- oversee the transition of content through the migration to new content management platforms, tools and systems. Provide direction and influence senior stakeholders to ensure successful transition.

Content operations

- with the Content Design team, devise and maintain processes and workflows that support efficient working and continuous improvement of content, taking into account multiple systems and partners.

Team leadership and management

- lead, mentor and manage a multi-disciplinary content design team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture. Allocate and manage content production budgets effectively.

Collaboration and multi-disciplinary working

- work collaboratively with teams across Service Design and Service Development, Brand and Communications to provide strategic direction on how content can support consistent and relevant customer journeys.

Advocacy and innovation

- champion content design across NS&I and externally, building networks across Government and beyond. Keep up to date with changes in the industry and share learning with the Content Design team and other content and design practitioners.
