Head Of Corporate Affairs

London, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

Permanent

50,000 per annum for 40 hours per week (we welcome conversations about flexible working arrangements)

Based in: Covent Garden, London

The Royal Ballet and Opera continues to lead the way in opera, ballet, music and dance both live on stage and through multiple digital platforms, from live streaming to worldwide cinema screenings. Our Covent Garden theatre has been at the heart of London and British cultural life for three centuries. We are home to two world-class Companies: The Royal Ballet and The Royal Opera.

The Royal Opera House describes the place we work, not who we are. The whole is always more than the sum of its parts - we may be a House, but three quarters of our audiences experience what we do outside this building. While our Covent Garden theatre is the nerve centre, the impact and influence of the organisation can be felt in every corner of the country, and around the world.

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Corporate Affairs to join the Communications team to strategically lead policy and advocacy efforts at the Royal Ballet and Opera. In this pivotal role, you will build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, media, sector peers, and policymakers, ensuring that the RBO remains at the forefront of industry developments.

The post-holder will lead the development and delivery of key policy objectives that support both our organisation and the wider cultural sector. Through collaboration and strategic engagement, you will help drive positive change and enhance our influence within the arts community and beyond.

Our ideal candidate will be a confident and comfortable networker with excellent relationship building skills. You will have strong track record in leadership, with a passion for developing talent and driving forward a small team, and the ability to act as an ambassador for the RBO.

You will be able to demonstrate:

A proven track record of working at a senior level in government relations or press and communications. Experience of liaising with key stakeholders including national and local government, funding bodies and supporters. Awareness of and ability to keep up to date with developments in public affairs space and the theatre, music, education, skills training, apprenticeship and regeneration sectors. Excellent planning and project management skills with ability to prioritise and work to tight deadlines. Ability to digest and analyse complex information, and to present it as simply and compellingly as possible. Management of senior internal stakeholders.

The Royal Ballet and Opera is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive environment in which everyone can thrive. We particularly welcome applications from those who are from a global majority background and/or those who are disabled, as they are under-represented within our organisation. As a Disability Confident Employer, we guarantee to interview all disabled applicants who meet the essential minimum criteria for our vacancies.
