CJCH Solicitors is a dynamic, award-winning law firm with offices across South Wales - including Cardiff, Swansea, Barry, Bridgend, Blackwood, and Caerphilly.

As part of our strategic expansion, we are seeking an experienced and commercially astute legal professional to build and lead a dedicated Corporate Law Department.

This is a high-impact leadership opportunity to establish a stand-alone Corporate division within a progressive and growing firm. You will be responsible not only for growing the department and handling complex matters, but also for overseeing its own profit and loss (P&L) function, with full commercial accountability.

The Role



As Head of Corporate, you will take full responsibility for setting up, leading, and growing the Corporate department. While CJCH currently services corporate clients through a network of consultants and generates regular instructions, we are looking to bring this function fully in-house under dedicated, permanent leadership.

Key Responsibilities:



Establish and lead the Corporate Department as a stand-alone business unit with P&L responsibility. Set the department's strategy, structure, and financial targets, with direct accountability for performance. Manage and supervise a caseload of high-value corporate matters, including M&A, restructuring, joint ventures, and shareholder agreements. Lead business development efforts and build a strong client base across local and national markets. Contribute to firm-wide strategic initiatives and play an active role in board-level planning and cross referral of work via CJCH's other service liens. Mentor junior lawyers as necessary and foster a collaborative, high-performing team environment. Represent the firm at professional events, industry panels, and networking forums.

What We are Looking For



A Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) with 8+ years PQE in corporate law. Extensive experience in managing or building a corporate legal team or department. A strategic thinker with strong commercial acumen and leadership experience. Demonstrated success in client development, revenue growth, and operational oversight. Solid technical expertise across a full spectrum of corporate transactions. A following or established client base would be highly advantageous.

Location & Working Style



Primary base:

Cardiff HQ (private office and parking provided)

Hybrid working available:

A strong office presence is expected for team leadership; candidate to have autonomy of their flexible working.

Travel:

Occasional travel to other CJCH offices as needed
