We're recruiting a Head of Data and Analytics to lead the next phase of LGPS Central's data transformation - strengthening how we manage, govern, and harness data to power investment performance, risk management, and regulatory insight.


This pivotal role, based in Wolverhampton, will take responsibility for delivering and embedding our enterprise Data Strategy under delegated responsibility from the Chief Operating and Technology Officer (COTO). You'll shape our target data architecture, modernise our reporting capabilities, and build a data culture that supports smarter, faster, and more informed decisions across the organisation.

What you'll be doing



Lead the implementation of LGPS Central's Data Strategy, ensuring our data and analytics infrastructure supports the needs of a growing and complex investment business. Develop and deliver a target data architecture that underpins performance reporting, portfolio oversight, and regulatory compliance. Oversee the design and rollout of our new enterprise data solution, including vendor selection, implementation, and adoption across all business functions. Establish data governance and quality frameworks that meet FCA and global regulatory standards, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and reliability of data. Build and optimise data workflows, analytics models, and reporting tools that improve efficiency, accuracy, and accessibility across investment, risk, and operational teams. Partner with the Data Director and wider business to deliver a data literacy and self-service analytics programme, strengthening data confidence across teams. Lead the development of insightful dashboards and MI reporting for ExCo, the Board, and regulators. Act as a trusted advisor and bridge between business, technology, and external vendors, ensuring data is treated as a strategic asset. Build strong internal and external relationships - including with key technology partners, consultants, regulators, and Partner Funds.

LGPS Central (LGPSC) Ltd is the FCA regulated asset manager for eight local authority pension funds across the Midlands. LGPSC is jointly owned on an equal shares basis by those Partner Fund, and it is responsible for managing 45bn+ of their assets. It is one of eight Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) asset pools in the UK.

Requirements



Extensive experience in a data and analytics leadership role within financial services, investment management, or pensions. Proven success in designing and implementing enterprise data and analytics solutions, ideally in a regulated investment environment. Strong understanding of data governance, quality management, and regulatory compliance (including FCA expectations). Excellent technical knowledge of data management, analytics, and reporting tools (e.g. SQL, Python, Power BI, Tableau). Confident stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at senior and executive levels. Strong analytical mindset with exceptional attention to detail. Ability to lead through collaboration, building trust and data capability across teams. Experience managing third-party data vendors and system providers. Committed to continuous improvement and innovation in how data and analytics drive business outcomes.

Qualifications



Evidence of continued professional development in data governance, analytics, or digital transformation.. Has or can meet all the requirements of being an FCA Certified Person under the Senior Managers & Certification Regime (SMCR).
