About the Role
This role leads all aspects of UKLB's Data Management activities across Protection and Longevity, ensuring a trusted "single version of the truth" through accurate, consistent, and reliable data.
The role also leads the delivery of the Munich and Madrid valuation portfolios to relevant stakeholders, ensuring high-quality data is available to support business and regulatory requirements.
This is a 2.5-year secondment opportunity, open to internal candidates.
Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain the accuracy, timeliness, and accessibility of client data held by UKLB, including the development and monitoring of relevant KRIs and broader reporting where appropriate.
  • Manage key stakeholders across the team, fostering effective collaboration and building strong relationships with contacts across local and group units.
  • Develop and maintain an IT roadmap that sets out the future vision for systems and applications used by the Data Management team, taking into account evolving business needs, the current IT landscape, and approaches adopted across other MR units.
  • Contribute actively as a member of the Finance Management team, constructively challenging peers and ExCo to help shape the strategic direction of Finance and the wider branch.
  • Support team development through regular feedback, continuous dialogue, and structured development and career conversations.
  • Plan and manage workflows to ensure an appropriate balance between day-to-day delivery and longer-term strategic objectives aligned to business priorities.
  • Drive team performance to meet agreed standards and deliverables, promoting accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure the team's skills and capabilities are optimised through the development of existing colleagues and the recruitment of diverse talent.

Key Skills & Experience:
  • Technical experience in Life, Health, Disability and Annuity Insurance related fields
  • Track record of process improvement, team management and stakeholder management
  • Demonstrable experience of working with Excel, Access and other databases

Regulatory & Conduct Requirements:
In addition to the responsibilities set out above, the Head of Data Management role will also become responsible for:
  • Satisfying all regulatory reporting requirements in collaboration with the reporting function
  • Liaising with all relevant regulatory bodies in the UK, creating a highly credible reputation and strong, collaborative relationship [insert any prescribed responsibilities]
  • Ensuring compliance with Munich Re's Code of Conduct and the FCA Conduct Rules
