We\'re looking for an experienced Head of Data Science to lead and support our skilled team of Data Scientists across the globe. You will be JLR strategic lead in building and supporting machine learning and artificial intelligence models that support our clients, their vehicle today and into the future.

Our Data Scientists use cutting-edge technologies and Data Science techniques across large volumes of complex data to provide deep insights, support new product and feature development, advance our operations and to drive business value.

You will meet daily with global stakeholders from across the wider business and will run regular information and knowledge sharing sessions, working to build strategical demand for your team.

THE ROLE

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the Global Data Science Chapter in best practices around the extraction and interpretation of large, diverse datasets and support in the communication of meaningful insights and recommendations to the wider business.
  • Drive the Data Science Chapter forwards as the Chapter Head.
  • Inspire data-driven mindset amongst our stakeholders.
  • Develop value-adding models and algorithms, delivering as a productionised solution using cloud-based infrastructure where appropriate.
  • Continuously scanning for opportunities to identify business operations, innovations or problem statements which can be improved/solved through Data Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence and the automation of processes.
  • Commercial acumen, following trends in Generative Artificial Intelligence and Analytics to bring new trends and use cases to the Automotive landscape and support the team\'s continuous development.
  • Create and foster relationships with key stakeholders across the wider business, becoming a key point of contact and subject matter expert on vehicle data, to develop domain knowledge and support the team and wider business.
  • Communicate technical results in a compelling and understandable way to wider and senior stakeholders.
  • Ensure the teams have everything they need to succeed, and their processes are optimal.
  • Introduces new Technology, Tools Data sources (where appropriate) and keeps up to date with advances in these.
  • Play a key role in developing team culture and spirit.
  • Metrics and reporting to line management.
WHAT YOU\'LL NEED

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential
  • BSc in Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, Math, Economics, or a related quantitative field and extensive relevant working experience.
  • Experience with cloud computing/platforms (e.g. Google Cloud Platform, AWS, DataRobot).
  • Experience with large, unstructured datasets.
  • Experience with data visualisation tools (e.g. Tableau, Data Studio, Power BI).
  • Commercially minded and eager to drive business value through data analytics and science.
  • Essential programming skills: R, Python, SQL skills.
  • Experience in solving complex business problems through leading a team in data analysis and data science techniques, using statistical knowledge to support hypothesis testing, experiment designs and inferences.
  • Experience in solving complex business problems through leading a team in Machine Learning techniques, such as classification and regression, and an understanding of various data cleansing and pre-processing techniques.
Desirable
  • Previous experience with time-series data.
  • Previous experience in continuous delivery and automation pipelines in machine learning (MLOps).
