Salary: Circa \xc2\xa395000 depending on experience

A high profile opportunity has arisen within our Sales & Business Development directorate to lead our Market Development team in the UK \xe2\x80\x93 a key role in working in partnership with the Ministry of Defence to develop our export business. In this role, you will be the primary interface into the UK government, responsible for securing government support for promoting MBDA products and winning business on the export market. In this role you will report to the UK Export Director whilst also supporting the Group Export Director.

MBDA was the world\xe2\x80\x99s leading exporter of complex weapons in 2022 and, in support of our domestic governments and their political/strategic ambitions, is currently at the forefront of European and global defence.

At MBDA, we recognise that our growth starts with great client relationships. The Sales and Business Development directorate is an international integrated team responsible for building those relationships and winning contracts. We identify and develop existing and future business in order to position and reinforce MBDA leadership on weapon systems.

Your key responsibilities:
  • Lead MBDA UK collaboration with UK Government, ensuring timely government support for key export campaigns
  • Lead HMG-MBDA governance forums for joint export management
  • Lead a UK market development team of four people
  • Work in collaboration with the wider Export Sales team (Regional VPs and Sales Managers) to support business winning
  • Lead the development of export marketing strategies, including identifying market needs and future opportunities
  • Support inter-Gov forums for the benefit of MBDA Group Export
  • Participate in bid product solution strategy definition
What we\xe2\x80\x99re looking for in you:
  • Significant knowledge of the defence environment and defence industry (customers, key decision makers, procurement process, geopolitical and competitive environment)
  • In depth knowledge of how UK Government works, particularly UK MOD, and DBT, Defence & Security Exports
  • Experience of defence exporting, ideally from both private and public sector perspectives
  • Gravitas and presence; excellent interpersonal skills; and the credibility to engage in dialogue at senior level with UK government organisations
  • Outstanding presentation and communication skills, with the ability to create and tailor material to suit the expertise of different audiences
  • The ability to work within an international matrix organisation
