We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and proactive Head of Department for Digital and Creative to join our community for a maternity cover Head of Department for Digital and Creative. This role will require an individual who is forward thinking and ready to ensure our offer is aligned to industry requirements and is future proofed to provide maternity cover from October 2025 to March 2026.
The Digital and creative Department is one of the largest departments within the college and offers provision for 16-18, adults, higher education, skills bootcamps and commercial delivery. With approximately 1000 students, it is a highly diverse department that offers a variety of programmes related to multiple disciplines in the sector.

About your role:
The Head of Department role is pivotal in the direction and design of the curriculum and requires an individual who is innovative and forward-thinking with industry knowledge and experience. You will have direct line management responsibility for the programme managers within the area and not only will you be working closely with your team but also with colleagues in the wider college with whom you can collaborate and explore innovative ideas.
A significant part of the Head of Department role is to develop positive professional relationships with all our stakeholders so that the curriculum offer can be well-informed and meet both our local and regional priorities, ensuring that all our students can move into sustainable positive destinations.
Throughout your role, your overarching focus will be on excellence from the quality of teaching, learning and assessment in the classroom/workshop, analysing data, and curriculum planning to ensuring that all our students and employers have a positive experience.
The Head of Department role requires an individual who pays attention to detail and is resilient in nature as each day is different. You will be a confident communicator with the ability to build and maintain excelling working relationships with colleagues, students and stakeholders both internally and externally.
The provision is mainly based out our College Green Centre, with provision also at our Ashley Down Centre and South Bristol Skill Academy.
You will be responsible for:
Leading and managing the Digital and Creative Department with oversight for securing and sustaining improvements in all aspects of curriculum and quality.
Working in partnership with employers to effectively align current and future curriculum and qualifications to employer expectations and labour market demands.
Leading the development of a high-quality student experience, creating partnerships between employers, and academic and professional service teams.
Working across the whole College as a member of the College Leadership Team promoting and actively demonstrating the College's values of inclusivity, respect, ambition and honesty*, fostering a culture of high expectations for staff and students
