Job Description


Role Purpose:

  • To lead the Product Technology & Engineering data strategy development and implementation.
  • Drive the recognition that data is a strategic asset for PT&E and provide the organisation with a solid data foundation to extract the full value from this asset.
  • To design and develop the appropriate organisation, processes and tools within PT&E to optimise data capture, re-use and governance.
  • To work with the PT&E key adjacent functions to agree and optimise our data governance and flows.
  • Drive PT&E\'s effectiveness of operation by providing the data foundation that enables agile decision making through the best re-use of data.
Accountabilities:
  • Leads the PT&E organisation through a cultural change journey that embeds the capture and re-use of data as a fundamental capability.
  • Develops and implements the PT&E Digital and Data strategy, guidelines and quality standards to enable PT&E to function efficiently and effectively, within the PT&E organisation but also with our key partners in the broader R&D, P&S and regulatory.
  • Defines and leads the optimum Data and Digital organisation within PT&E as agreed with the PTELT and the broader R&D governance team to realise the full value of PT&E and development of a continuous improvement culture within the team.
  • Works closely with the R&D Head Data Strategy & Management & RDIT to ensure alignment and to ensure that the data, tools and platform investments are focused on well-developed assumptions with a good value proposition
  • Accountable for the data within the specific data domain meeting business needs & standards, ensuring the data and its utilization i compliant with relevant regulations, policies and standards
  • Works with other Data Owners to resolve data issues and dissonance across R&D
Qualifications

Knowledge, experience & capabilities:
  • 5+ years\' experience in people management, mentorship and coaching
  • Graduate or Postgraduate qualification in data or technical subject matter
  • Experience of working effectively in a culturally diverse international matrix of stakeholders
  • Experience of designing master, transactional and analytical systems particularly when not a subject matter expert.
  • Experience of design data governance process and policies (who is the single point of truth, creating or updating a dataset versus consuming, when, and how)
  • Experience in the delivery of large change programs, with a significant cultural change aspect.
  • Understanding of R&D organisations and key processes involved with development of new active ingredient and products.
  • Either In-depth knowledge and experience of digital science and technology or a significant interest and passion to learn the topic.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and passion for digital technology
  • Excellent networking and communications skills across all levels of seniority and awareness of digital and data capabilities
  • Broad knowledge of IT tools and technologies relating to data management and governance
  • Ability to gain trust and influence a range of stakeholders
  • Able to represent the data needs and strategy and to work with other stakeholders to agree the best solution for Syngenta.
  • Able to define, communicate and implement a strategy where the significant stakeholders are not data experts.
  • Facilitate between internal and external data owners (source, publisher) and consumers
  • Able to adapt and adjust in the face of changing business need.
  • Able to envisage future uses of data and design systems flexible enough to cope with change.
