About the role

The Institute of Education, within the College of Arts, Humanities and Education is looking to appoint an inspirational and focussed Head of Discipline: Continuing Professional Development. You will be responsible for strengthening the Institute of Education\'s reputation as an outstanding provider for education programmes and for growth of its associated partnerships with a range of educational settings/employers. As Head of Discipline: Continuing Professional Development, you will provide a strategic link between the Head of the Institute of Education, our Global Engagement team and partners/employers. You will identify opportunities to develop our education offer, strengthening existing partner/employer relationships and being future focussed and bold in your efforts to establish new opportunities. As part of this role, you will also contribute to teaching within the Institute of Education.

The role would most strongly suit someone who has previously worked in the HE sector and who has managed UK and/or international academic partnerships. You will have extensive experience within the field of education and have robust understanding of opportunities and issues relating to enterprise, educational CPD and partnership development. You will possess up-to-date knowledge of the characteristics of high quality teaching and learning in educational settings. You will have a secure knowledge and understanding of FE and HE qualifications including apprenticeships, T levels, HTQs, Foundation Degrees alongside non-credit bearing CPD courses. Evidence of establishing strong external networks is essential as is the ability to build mutually beneficial partnerships. The post is likely to appeal to someone who can present complex information in a clear and logical manner and who has excellent organisation skills.

Working under the direction of the Head of Institute you will:

  • liaise with partners/employers to develop the IoE CPD offer to meet local, national and international needs
  • liaise with the Global Engagement Team to implement the University wide Global Engagement Strategy
  • be responsible for the development and implementation of schemes designed to enhance partnership/employer engagement
