Overview

The Head of Drama is a pivotal role within our educational institution, responsible for leading and developing the drama curriculum and fostering a vibrant theatre culture. This position requires a passionate individual with a strong background in drama, who can inspire students and staff alike. The Head of Drama will oversee all aspects of the drama programme, ensuring that students receive high-quality instruction and opportunities to engage in performance arts.

Duties

Develop and implement an engaging drama curriculum that caters to various skill levels and interests. Lead rehearsals, directing students in performances and productions. Foster a supportive environment that encourages creativity, collaboration, and self-expression among students. Organise and manage school productions, including auditions, casting, and stage management. Collaborate with other departments to integrate drama into broader educational initiatives. Provide mentorship and support to drama teachers and assistants, promoting professional development. Facilitate workshops in public speaking and communication skills to enhance students' confidence. Maintain effective communication with parents, staff, and the wider community regarding drama activities.

Qualifications

Proven experience in teaching drama or performing arts at an educational level. Strong public speaking skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey ideas and instructions. Experience in dancing is advantageous but not essential; a willingness to incorporate movement into drama is encouraged. A degree or equivalent qualification in Drama, Theatre Arts, or a related field is preferred. Demonstrated leadership abilities with a passion for nurturing young talent in the performing arts.
