Job Description

We are seeking an exceptional Consultant Clinical Psychologist to lead our Employee Wellbeing service and shape the future of staff experience across Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board.



As Head of Employee Wellbeing , you will provide strategic and operational leadership, ensuring our wellbeing offer is proactive, preventative, and embedded into the fabric of the organisation. Leading a dedicated team, you will design, deliver, and evaluate evidence-based initiatives that build psychological safety, resilience, and engagement at every level.



This is a high-profile leadership role, working closely with senior leaders, staff networks, trade unions, and colleagues across People Services. You will influence culture and strategy by addressing the root causes of stress and risk, embedding wellbeing into workforce planning and change programmes, and ensuring services are inclusive and accessible.



We are looking for a registered Clinical Psychologist with substantial post-qualification experience, strong organisational psychology expertise, and the ability to lead through complexity. You will bring advanced influencing and consultancy skills, alongside a deep commitment to creating a compassionate, safe, and healthy workplace.

In this senior leadership role, you will combine clinical expertise with strategic vision to strengthen staff wellbeing and organisational culture across the health board. You will oversee the delivery of specialist psychological assessments and interventions for individuals and teams, ensuring timely access to support and tailored responses to complex situations.



Working closely with colleagues in OD, Occupational Health and Trade Unions, you will embed wellbeing into everyday practice. You will lead organisational health reviews, contribute to large-scale change programmes, and design training and leadership initiatives that promote psychological safety, resilience and engagement.



You will also drive research, audit and evaluation to ensure the service remains evidence-based and responsive to staff needs. By influencing policy & representing CTM locally and nationally, you will help shape the future of employee wellbeing while creating a safe, compassionate and supportive workplace for all



Welsh Skills Desirable:

As Head of Employee Wellbeing , you will:



Provide expert psychological leadership, evaluation and intervention across the organisation, including in complex and high-risk situations.



Deliver bespoke psychological assessments and interventions for staff and teams, and oversee pathways for urgent and routine support.



Lead organisational health reviews, using evidence-based approaches to improve psychological safety, resilience, and staff engagement.



Offer consultation, supervision and expert advice to counsellors, psychologists, and professional colleagues.



Partner with OD, L&D, Occupational Health, trade unions and staff networks to ensure services are inclusive, preventative, and accessible.



Lead and contribute to large-scale organisational change projects, using psychological insights to support culture change and employee experience.



Drive service evaluation, research and audit, ensuring the wellbeing service is evidence-based, modernised and aligned with national standards.



Develop policy, training and education programmes to promote wellbeing, stress awareness, and positive organisational culture.



Represent the service at local and national levels, influencing strategy and best practice in employee wellbeing.
