Our customers include UK police, fire fighters, Ministry of Defence as well as other NATO police forces and defence organisations. We also heavily support Ukraine, where we have many users. Role Overview



We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Engineering looking to leave a lasting mark on the industry and their career. Location:

Farnham - Office

This is a full time position, based in Farnham, Surrey. Hours 0900 to 1730 GMT Monday to Friday (however, there is a degree of flexibility and consideration will be given to adjusting these hours to suit the needs of the successful candidate).

Engineering knowledge and qualifications (Software / Electronic / Mechanical) Delivered growth and improvements in large engineering functions Successful delivery of multiple highly complex projects and products Completing product compliance, regulations & legislation certifications Line managing management large teams with low staff turn over Delivering projects to budget and planning for this Advanced risk management and timely delivery of projects Continuous improvement and process improvement Design, manufacturing and assembly knowledge Materials and parts knowledge, including novel and experimental Understanding of electronic systems design and engineering Engineering supply chains

Role:



Reporting into the CTO, as the Head of Engineering you will be overseeing and ultimately responsible for the engineering research and development function. The electronic, mechanical, software engineering, software development and integration teams will report into you.

You will be responsible for ensuring that Evolve Dynamics engineering are using best in class methodologies for product development, staying up to date with the latest industry developments/technologies, tackling high-level strategic problems which get in the way of quality, reliability, efficiency and delivery. Whilst ensuring morale and team spirit are managed well, incentive programs are appropriate for both company and individuals.

Leadership and Management:

Lead the engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence. Develop and implement strategic goals and initiatives for the engineering department in alignment with company objectives.

Project Oversight:

Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of UAV projects, ensuring they meet technical, budgetary, and timeline requirements. Manage project resources, including personnel, equipment, timing and budget.

Technical Guidance:

Provide expert technical direction and support in UAV design, development, testing, and deployment. Ensure the engineering team adheres to best practices, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.

Collaboration and Communication:

Work closely with other departments (e.g., product management, sales, marketing) to ensure seamless integration of engineering efforts with company goals. Serve as a key point of contact for stakeholders, providing regular updates on project status, challenges, and achievements.

Innovation and Research:

Drive research and development efforts to advance UAV technology and maintain a competitive edge. Identify and assess new technologies and methodologies that could enhance product performance and capabilities.

Quality Assurance:

Implement and maintain rigorous quality assurance processes to ensure the reliability, safety, and performance of UAV products. Oversee the development and execution of testing protocols and validation procedures.

Team Development:

Recruit, mentor, and develop engineering talent, fostering a high-performing and motivated team. Promote continuous learning and professional development within the engineering department.

CTO support

Translate and expand technical and strategic direction from the CTO to the wider R&D teams Provide summarised reports to CTO from the R&D team Keep CTO updated of projects and initiatives with customers, suppliers and wider business, beyond the R&D team - from direct activities of the Head of Engineering Plan and prioritise initiatives as set out by the CTO

Responsibilities:



Strategic Planning:

Develop and execute long-term engineering strategies that align with the company's vision and goals. Create and manage the engineering department's budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources.

Project Management:

Lead project planning, scheduling, resourcing and execution, ensuring all milestones and deliverables are met. Coordinate cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives and resolve any technical issues that arise.

Technical Expertise:

Provide hands-on technical leadership in UAV system architecture, hardware and software development, and integration. Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to ensure the company remains at the forefront of innovation.

Regulatory Compliance:

Ensure all UAV products comply with relevant industry regulations and standards, including CAA guidelines and international aviation regulations. Manage the certification process for new UAV models, working with regulatory bodies as needed to achieve compliance with CE & UKCA for example.

Quality and Performance:

Oversee the development and implementation of quality assurance processes to ensure high standards of product reliability and safety. Analyse performance data to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as necessary.

Stakeholder Engagement:

Act as a liaison between the engineering team and external stakeholders, including customers, partners, and regulatory authorities. Provide regular updates and reports on engineering activities, project progress, and technical challenges.

Innovation and Development:

Lead R&D initiatives to develop new UAV technologies and enhance existing products. Foster a culture of innovation within the engineering team, encouraging creative problem-solving and exploration of new ideas.

Risk Management:

Identify potential risks in engineering projects and develop mitigation strategies. Ensure the engineering team is prepared to respond to technical challenges and unforeseen issues effectively.

Operational Efficiency:

Streamline engineering processes to improve efficiency and productivity. Implement tools and methodologies that enhance workflow and project management within the engineering team.

Team Leadership:

Build and maintain a cohesive and motivated engineering team through effective leadership and management practices. Promote a positive and collaborative work environment, ensuring team members are aligned with the company's values and goals.
