The Opportunity





As the Head of Engineering, you own the outcomes of the Product Development North Engineering teams. You will work with the Architects, Engineering Managers, Technical Lead and Product Management to continually review and improve the engineering practice for ongoing improvements in critical areas such as quality, security and scalability while ensuring that modern agile practices are embedded into the fabric of the engineering organization to support our people and our customers. You are responsible for the leadership, guidance and mentoring of the North

Engineering Managers and Technical Team Leads, working Product to ensure the engineering department is sized to

and has the skills to meet the roadmap demands.




You are a leader, comfortable with managing software development and delivery, using an agile mindset to continuously improve and coach individuals & teams while continuing to understand the needs of the business' bigger picture and work to evolve the Engineering organization accordingly. You play a pivotal role in inspiring and motivating everyone in engineering to be the best they can be. You will engage with other senior leaders in the North and South to understand emerging technologies, practices and the implications for your teams.



As the owner of the outputs of the Northern Product Engineering Teams, understanding the performance of the teams and using this information to identify and implement improvements to support on time delivery is a key aspect of the role.




The Specifics





The key responsibilities of the role are to:



Lead the Engineering Managers and Technical Team Leads, as well as other key senior roles as require You will take accountability for the engineering teams outputs, delivering on time and to a high quality Understand and measure performance metrics and deliver ongoing improvements to
process, practice and technology
Work with other senior staff and leaders to drive innovation across team Work with other leaders to transfer knowledge to the engineering teams and understand the technology roadmap to ensure teams are prepared to deliver against it Work to advance the security and automation in the engineering practice You drive change within the development organisation and foster a positive culture of continuous improvement Foster a team environment, creating high performing teams You will facilitate team growth through an "experiment and learn" mindset to ensure that the team is always looking for a better way You will create an inclusive, and diverse environment where people can do their best work You will drive individual growth through recognition, opportunities, and incentives You celebrate success and tackle issues with compassion



What

looking for

Demonstrated experience in leading and managing product development engineering teams, including overseeing end-to-end software development processes, ensuring high quality outputs, and meeting delivery deadline Demonstrated experience taking projects from discovery through to build, go live, and support Inspiring and enabling your teams to deliver excellent work at a high pace Track record of managing and improving operational processes with extensive experience in implementing and optimizing Agile methodologies across numerous team Experience in executing engineering strategies that align with business objectives, including resource management, recruitment, and risk mitigatio A passion for people and a track record of nurturing and growing them to be the best they can be Experience in and ideas for influencing change and growth of development teams A relentless drive for continuous improvement in processes, others and yourself A track record of building strong relationships and inspiring people through words and actions Ability to give and receive positive and constructive feedbac High levels of energy, sound judgement and determination to achieve with a sense of urgency You're highly collaborative and adaptable with an open-minded consultative approach
