Responsible for leading a small Engineering and Site Maintenance Team, delivering performance and service through excellence. You will be responsible for delivery of maintenance, maximum availability and optimum efficiency of the production plant, equipment, facilities and systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure an effective relationship is maintained with Production Management in order to take direction and effectively prioritise tasks in the most appropriate way to maximise Production effectiveness.
Develop and implement a PPM schedule to ensure all plant and equipment is fit for purpose.
Control contractors, completing permits and observing insurance and H&S requirements.
Facilitation and leadership of the Design and Specification Review Process of Equipment ensuring that all new Equipment, Plant, Systems, Construction are compliant.
Responsible for the engineering function expenditure ensuring that site engineering operations costs are kept within agreed annual budget.
Communicate daily with production management to ensure planned maintenance and engineering breakdowns are dealt with effectively to reduce the amount of down time.
Formulate engineering strategy linked to the business plan and manufacturing strategies to ensure efficiencies are met at all times.
Monitoring and implementing improvements in production down time and costs.
Support and contribute to all customer/third party visits and audits and support relevant teams to improve audit standards.
Ensure that 24/7 Engineering support is available in emergency out of hours situations.
Ensure an environment and culture of safe working practices are understood and maintained in line with HSE and food safety requirements at all times.
Work closely and collaborate with other Business functions to ensure planned maintenance, engineering and production priorities are considered and managed.
Monitor and ensure breakdown issues are resolved as quickly and cost effectively as possible.
Control the Engineering Team working hours in alignment with site production requirements.
Effectively develop and implement the use of a site preventative maintenance process.
Promote a positive team culture to achieve the site targets alongside manufacturing.
Work closely with support functions (Technical and Production) to ensure actions from audits are kept to a minimum and communicate all outstanding issues.
The Applicant:
We are looking for applicants with proven track record of senior-engineering team leadership with a minimum of 5 years industry experience.
Ideally educated to degree level in a relevant engineering discipline.
Strong financial acumen and budget management experience.
Strong people management and ability to lead a cross functional and multi skilled engineering team.
Good analytical skills, attention to detail and structured approach to problem solving essential.
Able to demonstrate excellent IT, literacy and numeracy skills.
Previous experience of working in a food manufacturing environment preferred.
In-depth knowledge of health and safety compliance.
Prior knowledge and experience of managing Asbestos, legionella, DSEAR, PUWER, LOLER and pressure systems is preferable.
Experience of developing and implementing continuous improvement programmes.
Experience of leading culture change in an engineering function including changes in organisation design and working practices as required.
