About the opportunity We are seeking a highly collaborative, skilled and experienced Head of Engineering to work alongside our NNEP Leadership Team on a key strategic, delivery partner framework in the UK defence industry with a value of circa \xc2\xa3750m. The successful candidate will play a key role shaping and developing our framework technical capability including the people, processes, technology and continuous improvement plan supporting the NNEP Technical Director. The Head of Engineering will work closely supporting Engineering input to the Delivery Programmes. Projects will vary in scale and complexity. You will be engaged across the engineering aspects of the project delivery life cycle from initial project definition and FEED studies to concept design, detailed design, procurement, and liaising with the Head of Construction and Head of Commissioning to ensure delivery excellence is embedded through to project handover. This position will require regular attendance in our Reading office Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays with frequent client site visits to develop stakeholder requirements and build critical relationships for success.   • Be responsible for delivering the Engineering Delivery Strategy to enable a solution-driven approach, enhance technical opportunities, reduce risk and engineering control change management - socialise and agree with NNEP wider stakeholders.
  • Engage positively with engineering suppliers \xe2\x80\x93 both internal and externally, including overseas suppliers (GID).
  • Work alongside the Operations Director and Delivery Directors to ensure that the right engineering resources are available and suitably SQEP\xe2\x80\x99ed to support project delivery. Build a resource plan to encourage diversity of both thought and demographic within the Engineering Team.
  • Support the growth of the framework by managing and delivering technical proposals and solutions to meet client delivery requirements and Jacob\'s business demands to enable delivery excellence.
  • Develop a solution-driven culture that focuses on opportunities and value-plus approach and manage and mitigate risks,
  • Being curious about adoption of new ways of working and collaborate with the Transformation Director and wider NNEP Lead Team to integrate technical solutions.
  • Provide inspirational leadership of multidisciplinary teams ensuring appropriate resources are available and fully trained to be able to carry out their tasks via matrixed Delivery Teams and lead exemplary stakeholder relations and accountability across the framework, client organisation, wider supply chain and Jacob\'s capabilities for a true One Jacobs offering and delivery.
  • Track and report on the technical aspects of the NNEP delivery portfolio, in conjunction with the Delivery Directors.
Here\xe2\x80\x99s What You\xe2\x80\x99ll Need:
  • Be an inspirational engineering leader who is able to provide the balance between technical excellence and delivery drivers.
  • Degree qualified, chartered member of a recognised engineering institution with a minimum of10 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in an engineering.
  • In-depth knowledge and proven expertise of design within a high hazard environment and awareness of applicable UK safety legislation.
  • Proven knowledge of and understanding of the significance of working to technical standards, providing technical assurance.
  • Strong planning skills together with the flexibility and resilience required to maintain momentum of the delivery of projects.
  • Hold or have the ability to gain SC (Security Clearance) and be a sole British National.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and report-writing skills.
