Voltempo is developing rapid DC hypercharging solutions for a range of commercial vehicle sectors, initially here in the UK, but progressively internationally as the transport sector electrifies. The company holds several international patents, it is engaged in the end-to-end design, supply, site commissioning and servicing of charging solutions, targeting commercial vehicles. The business is currently scaling and is well supported by both its international shareholders and its role under the UK Government eFreight2030 programme, where it is leading a consortium of UK logistics fleet operators to deploy the UK's first eHGV charging network.
About the Role
:
In this role, you will play a crucial part in Voltempo's development taking responsibility for the electrical and civil design and commissioning of commercial vehicle EV depots. You will collaborate closely with our project managers, product design and development teams and engage with clients to understand their unique requirements, ensuring that the solutions we provide are tailored to their business needs. Your expertise in utility networks and transport site design will guide the technical direction of projects, ensuring high performance for the customer, scalability and a holistic approach to maximise customer value. Your team will be tasked with evaluating emerging technologies and industry trends to enhance our offerings.
You will also provide information to support initiating projects, ensuring the solution design is feasible, goals and objectives produce realistic schedules and timelines for tasks. Furthermore, you will carry out monitoring activities to track the technical progress of the project, identify and manage technical risks and implementing any necessary changes throughout the project's execution, to ensure that our client's expectations are delivered. Regular reporting to the client, including evaluating successes and challenges to capture and deploy project learnings.
Responsibilities
Lead in determining the design for 11KV grid connections and developing the site's solution, where appropriate inclusive of on-site generation and storage schemes in support of the clients EV business case.
Collaborate with clients to gather and analyse their business requirements assessing suitable hardware and software solutions to enable the clients transition to an eHGV operation.
Secure POC applications and generating detailed designs, gaining thier approval from the host DNO, as necessary liaise with ICPs in securing this approval.
Create detailed documentation of the depot and connection design, which can be used to support the project's construction, commissioning, operation, maintenance and optimisation.
Mentor team members and promote best practices in solution design.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and emerging technologies to support depot solar generation and energy storage schemes.
Be responsible for assessing the technical and operational requirements for a logistics' fleets eHGV transition. You will be pivotal in providing a site's electrification feasibility study, to support the customer's business case and subsequent FEED work in creating a final depot design.
This role would ideally suit a candidate with a technical background, ideally with 3 - 5 years' experience in managing multifaceted EV projects taking responsibility for the M&E's design and ensuring optimised delivery, with principle measurables being:
Designing an integrated electric charging solution which supports the adoption and scaling of a logistics organisation's adoption of eHGVs, optimising the integration, operation and maintenance of the solutions through to business-as-usual operation.
Assessing the systems M&E architecture and recommending solutions to resolve technical problems as well as highlighting potential new product development opportunities for Voltempo to explore.
Collaborating with project management and product development teams to ensure best in class solution designs.
What credential are we ideally looking for
:
Strong understanding of M&E design, be familiar with NERS requirement for development and construction utility connections. Impressive track record and experience from working in or with an EV infrastructure system supplier and bringing new innovations to market. Experience of working in a SME would be desirable, we are looking for a highly collaborative candidate, familiar with and a keen interest in, areas of low carbon energy technology. Must be numerate with a strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
