We are seeking a Head of External Communications with demonstrable expertise in press office management, thought leadership strategy, social media, and crisis management. The successful candidate will need to have advanced and demonstrable knowledge of the re/insurance industry.
This is a high-profile role in a fast-paced global environment, the nature of the role requires out of hours media management as required.
In this role, you will play a crucial part in shaping the company's narrative and driving awareness of key growth initiatives with overall responsibility for driving strategic direction and ensuring high quality tactical delivery for external communications worldwide.
What you'll be DOING

What will your essential responsibilities include?
Media Relations and Social Media
+ Lead the global press office function, including strategy, operations, and reporting.
+ Overall responsibility for social media strategy, management, governance, and reporting.
Thought Leadership and content
+ Content publishing and thought leadership strategy and platforms. Lead, support and coach the Communications Directors to deliver robust thought leadership articles.
+ Oversite of the content budget to ensure our editorial team is most effective.
Advisory
+ Act as a key advisor to senior stakeholders across all global functions and businesses.
+ Act as a key contact between AXA Group External Communications and AXA XL, ensuring alignment on financial reporting, message development and media management.
Crisis Communications
+ Deputize for the Chief Communications & Brand Officer on the Corporate Crisis team for AXA XL with responsibility for communications.
+ Contribute to the Business Continuity Plan for the function.
+ Provide key support to the Chief Communications and Brand & Reputational Risk Officer aligned with Group Reputational Risk. In addition, have a seat on the Op Risk and Compliance Risk Committee at AXA XL.
Integrated Communications and Campaigns
+ Collaborate closely with the Internal Communications team to ensure an integrated and holistic approach to communications.
+ Provide advice on client & broker communications to senior marketing colleagues.
In addition, you will lead the global media awards strategy and activity.
You will report to the Chief Communications & Brand Officer

Required Skills and Abilities:
Superior communications and media relations expertise; ability to analyze information and connect the dots quickly and effectively.
Advanced knowledge of the re/insurance business, with robust demonstrable understanding of key aspects of insurance industry financial reporting.
Significant credibility/experience as strategic adviser to senior leaders, as well as an adaptive, flexible and collaborative attitude.
Strategic thinking, effective prioritization and pragmatic tactical focus.
Ability to inspire, lead and influence, also colleagues not under own direct management responsibility.
Proven track record in managing successful global communications strategies.
Robust media relations experience with a deep understanding of global media landscapes.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Advance knowledge of media monitoring, reporting and AI tools.
Business French an advantage
Experience of working in a fast passed global environment.
Prepared to manage media relations and crisis communications during non-traditional work hours.
