Reporting to the Director of Public Affairs and Communications, we are recruiting for a Head of External Engagement to strengthen our strategic outreach.
What is the role?
This role will see you working within a small team to oversee the delivery of high-quality and impactful communications outputs which respond to industry and organisational priorities. Through close working across all aspects of the organisation, this role will support efforts to maximise our media exposure, stakeholder influence and value to member organisations.
This is a varied role, involving work across your many skillsets to complete tasks in a timely and effective manner. These include:
Supporting the development of press releases, media responses and opinion pieces which respond to industry trends and organisational objectives.
Translating complex policy concepts into compelling and informative outputs to increase awareness and understanding of industry priorities.
Showcasing organisational achievements, events and member benefits through creative, innovative and strategic communications.
Building and maintaining strong, productive relationships with members and key stakeholders will be central to this role that will drive initiatives to enhance Scottish Renewables' visibility and reputation. As a key advocate for Scotland's renewable energy potential, this role will involve-facing responsibilities such as representing the organisation at conferences and with other external bodies.
What are we looking for?
We're looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and confident individual with excellent communication skills to complement our busy team. As this role will involve close working with colleagues across the organisation and membership, an ability to effectively build, maintain and manage positive working relationships is essential.
Key requirements:
A minimum of three to five years' experience of communications roles with media and multi-stakeholder engagement responsibilities.
A commitment to the growth of renewable energy in Scotland with excellent communication and presentational skills.
An ability to develop and execute successful engagement strategies that drive clear outcomes to the benefit of the organisation.
Key attributes:
A responsive team player who can effectively and collaboratively manage numerous demands with a strong client service ethic.
An ability to think critically and creatively, with excellent quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, to provide innovative analysis solutions.
A personable character who has proven experience of providing leadership and presenting complex information to diverse audiences.
Other requirements:
Excellent computing and proofreading skills
Experience of content creation and production
Knowledge of the renewable energy industry
