Role: Head of Field Applications

Location: Cambridge, England, United Kingdom

Purpose of the role

The main purposes are:

1. Bring personal expertise in fluid dynamics and engineering (theory, modelling, simulation and physical implementation);

2. Support marketing and sales activities with an \'engineering view\', with particular focus on customer integrations

3. Create and maintain a stable of \'ready to go\' module product concepts that can be discussed with potential lead customers

1. These product concepts should be possible to implement with current component technology

2. The time to market for these concepts should be relatively short

3. These concepts should be refined based on customer interaction until a lead customer is found to pull the concept into development

Responsibilities

New Product Development

  • Acquire comprehensive understanding of target applications / use case requirements
  • Analyse application / use case requirements and map them to fluidic engineering/design requirements specifications, to ensure that new products can be easily designed-in and that solutions will meet or exceed system requirements;
  • Build and maintain a stable of \'ready to go\' product concepts that can be discussed and refined with lead customers
  • Contribute to MRDs for product concepts selected for development
  • Contribute to product datasheets and other marketing collaterals, to ensure that they inform practical application of the product;
Pre-Sales (existing products)
  • Work with Marketing to communicate sensing solutions, their value proposition, appropriate positioning and competitive advantages. This will involving creation of collateral such as white papers, presentations, training material (internal and external), Application Notes and media content (such as promotional videos and photo shoots)
  • Acquire comprehensive understanding of customers\' specific application / use case requirements;
  • Inspire customers with confidence in as a provider of flow sensing solutions that will bring them competitive advantage;
  • Work with customers\' engineering teams to devise integration solutions that meet or exceed specific application / use case requirements;
  • Assist customers during their evaluation of solutions; diagnose the root cause of any problems that become evident and find practical solutions;
  • Train distributor FAE\'s and provide design-in support to them when necessary.
Post-Sales
  • Assist customers with the investigation of any issues that arise with based solutions and help them to find practical solutions.
You MUST have:

Comprehensive knowledge and extensive practical experience of:
  • Fluidic system analysis, design, simulation, physical implementation and testing;
  • Sensing and measurement methods for gas flow, gas sensing, temperature and pressure;
  • Flow control, conditioning and averaging for sensor performance optimisation, including by-pass arrangements;
  • Integration of flow measurement, gas sensing, temperature and pressure sensing components into a system design.
  • Knowledge of sensing requirements and solutions for
  • Medical equipment such as CPAP machines and ventilators.
  • HVAC, extractor fans and air purifiers.
  • Consumer personal care products (e.g. hair dryers and stylers).
  • Automotive sensing applications
  • Technical project or team leadership experience.
  • Strong candidates are likely to have developed their expertise in companies (including consultancies) that develop the above, or similar, products.
  • Good candidates might also come from an industrial or laboratory equipment background, but a strong consumer/commercial awareness is a must-have:
  • Good knowledge and understanding of laboratory equipment for fluidic system development.
