PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: 90,000 - 110,000 plus 5441 London Weighting and up to 25% bonus, depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Head of Finance within Content Finance, plays a pivotal role in shaping and delivering the long-term financial strategy for BBC Studios' Content business. The role ensures alignment between financial priorities and strategic objectives, driving operational excellence, robust financial control, and a culture of continuous improvement. The role delivers financial and strategic leadership in business areas which have high levels of complexity in terms of staff management, budgetary responsibility and major project activity.

You'll be leading a high-performing finance team, ensuring the delivery of accurate reporting, insightful analysis, and effective financial management that supports creative and commercial decision-making across BBC Content. This role develops and leads a culture which is focused on delivering benefits and value to the business and in ensuring the BBC delivers best value - creating value today through robust control and risk management and adding future value through effective investment management support and advice. You'll work with other finance and business leaders to make financial decisions that deliver the best outcomes for the BBC as one organisation.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:

  • Lead financial strategy and advisory: Develop and execute long-term financial plans aligned with BBC Studios' goals, acting as a trusted adviser to senior stakeholders and translating complex data into actionable insights.
  • Team leadership: Manage and motivate a small finance team, setting objectives, fostering growth, and embedding a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
  • Financial governance and compliance: Ensure robust financial controls, statutory compliance, and accurate month-end P&L and Balance Sheet reporting, while strengthening data integrity and governance frameworks.
  • Forecasting and reporting excellence: Drive improvements in forecasting accuracy for Cash and EBITDA, enhance budgeting processes, and oversee Content Investment portfolio reporting.
  • Service delivery and stakeholder support: Provide high-quality finance services to Content Sales and Investment teams, acting as the primary finance contact and delivering timely, insightful analysis for key titles and marketing initiatives.
  • Strategic collaboration: Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders to maximise content monetisation and ensure transparency in royalty accounting.
  • Innovation and change leadership: Champion technology-driven improvements, including AI and digital tools, to modernise finance operations, enhance insight, and drive efficiency.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
  • Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior stakeholders.
  • Proven experience in managing financial systems, controls, and reporting in a complex, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to interpret, model, and communicate complex financial data to both financial and non-financial audiences.
  • Experience leading teams and driving a culture of continuous improvement.
