KCR Solutions are delighted to be working with this prestigious company on the outskirts of Durham, in their search for a Head of Finance. Your duties will be as follows:Responsible for overseeing all day-to-day financial operations
Managing and supporting the finance team, providing clear direction and fostering a culture of accountability and improvement
Leading the production of accurate and timely monthly management accounts, including analysis and commentary
Monitoring cash flow and working capital, including compliance
Overseeing billing, credit control, WIP management, payroll data, and purchase ledger
Establishing and maintaining strong internal controls, processes and procedures and ensuring compliance with relevant legal, regulatory, and tax requirements
Ensuring individual development plans are integrated into appraisal processes and aligned with firm-wide objectives
Ensuring robust financial processes and up-to-date procedure and timetable documentation are in place
Collaborating with the management team and Managing Partner and contributing financial insight to leadership discussions
Playing a central role in the implementation of a new finance management system
Acting as the finance superuser - responsible for input on system design, testing, configuration, training, and continuous improvement
Driving efficiency by identifying and implementing process improvements and automation opportunities
Liaising with external accountants in finalising the statutory accounts
Ensuring timely submission of VAT returns, PAYE, and other compliance obligations
Overseeing accurate handling of client account transactions and compliance with regulations
Development of ad hoc financial plans, budgets, and forecasts
Providing financial insight and analysis to inform business decisions and drive commercial performance
Contributing to broader projects, helping to modernise and scale financial operations in line with business growth
Working as part of the management team helping to shape the firm's long-term strategic objectives, ensuring financial considerations are embedded in decision-making
Acting as a key voice in strategic planning discussions, influencing the future direction of the business
You will be a qualified Accountant and have worked in a similar role previously. Strong IT skills, particularly Excel are essential as well as system implementation experience. Professional services experience would be advantageous.
