and manages a team of three.
Summary
The Head of Finance will lead the Finance team, ensuring a strong financial strategy, long-term planning, robust financial procedures, and effective support for both teaching and non-teaching functions.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Strategy & Planning
- develop and deliver financial strategies, support growth initiatives, and liaise with auditors.
Budgeting, Reporting & Forecasting
- oversee budgets, reporting packs, and financial forecasts.
Finance Systems & Procedures
- review, improve, and maintain efficient financial systems and processes.
Collaboration & Service Levels
- build strong relationships with senior leaders, parents, and stakeholders.
Finance Operations
- manage daily financial operations, month-end close, billing, cash flow, payroll data, and compliance.
Person SpecificationQualifications & Knowledge
Qualified accountant with extensive experience in financial strategy (education or charity sector preferred).
Knowledge of charities accounting (desirable).
Strong understanding of management and financial accounting principles, with the ability to delegate effectively.
Independent school sector experience (beneficial but not essential).
Understanding of commercial, economic, and financial drivers within school leadership.
Experience
Proven success in managing budgets, delivering efficiency savings, and driving improvements.
Skilled in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and producing accessible data for non-finance teams.
Track record of managing financial operations and applying performance measurement processes.
Experience working effectively with senior non-financial leaders and managing stakeholder relationships.
