Head of Finance; Walsall; Rate: £400 - £550 per day LTD OR PAYE (rate to be discussed); 3-6 month contract

Responsible for all aspects of finance activity within the business stream, our client is looking for a Head of Finance based in Walsall, mainly working from home but site presence is a requirement.

  • Qualified ACCA/CIMA/ACA with at least 5+ years PQE
  • Experience working with challenging business areas and ability to quickly understand what's going on/issues there may be
  • Track record of leading major improvement programmes and being resilient
  • Require a someone with a HANDS ON approach, someone who will roll their sleeves up and get stuck in
- Required to Business Partner with all levels of management - someone who can get out onto the floor to build relationships with workshop managers.

Manufacturing/Automotive industry experience is desirable rather than essential - the main thing our client is looking for is the quality of candidate in line with the below points

Key Analytical Skills and Challenges / competencies:

  • Qualified ACCA/CIMA/ACA with at least 5+ years PQE
  • High level of computer literacy (incl. Advanced Excel)
  • Degree qualified or equivalent industry experience

Key Tasks and Activities:
  • Provide a strategic and commercial overview and leadership to the finance department
  • Lead the development of the financial solution for growth opportunities. Work in conjunction with the Bid teams to create winning opportunities / bids. Review and approval of bids (within authority limits).
  • Use financial information to constructively challenge current and potential business activity in order to increase profits and improve efficiencies
  • Supervise, support and develop the finance team, ensuring that it provides high levels of service and support to the business
  • Work with the commercial team to develop a working understanding of all commercial agreements in the Business Stream, identifying risks and mitigations where appropriate
  • Ensure timeliness and accuracy of monthly management reporting. Prepare materials for monthly business reviews, and take ownership for actions
  • Deliver tight management and control of the balance sheet and working capital.
Other Activities:
  • Support and manage internal and external audit requirements, including ensuring timely resolution of audit findings and comments
  • Manage the finance integration of new contracts
  • Supervision and management of the finance team to ensure BU, Divisional and Group requirements are met (e.g. weekly cash forecasts, monthly and annual accounts, budgets, rolling forecasts and strategic plans)
  • Performing other ad-hoc tasks as required
  • Protect assets from unauthorised access, disclosure, modification, destruction or interference
  • Comply with the company's established policies and procedures including Safeguarding and the Data protection Act 1998.
Budget / Cash Management Responsibility:
  • Budget Co-ordination for Business Stream
  • Finance department budget

Key Outputs/Deliverables:
  • Sustainable business growth in line with budget
  • Key financial bid information for approvals
  • Timely and accurate delivery of BU, Divisional and Group requirements
  • Managing the function in line with the Group's corporate governance policies, processes and procedures including those relating to Health and Safety & IAMM
  • Development of staff
  • Individually specified objectives
