The Role



Based in our Peterborough central office we are looking for a skilled financial accountant and people manager to lead statutory reporting and compliance across a group of five charities (United Learning Ltd being one of the top ten largest charities in the country) and two companies. Supported by four direct reports, this role offers variety and responsibility. You will repot into the Group Financial Controller.

Working in partnership with our external auditors, you'll manage the preparation of the statutory accounts for the group, ensuring compliance with charity SORP and relevant accounting standards. You will be the first point of contact during the annual audits, ensuring all are completed within the agreed timeframes.

Key duties include overseeing VAT compliance and submissions, managing monthly and five-year cashflow forecasts, and monitoring daily cash balances. You'll evaluate short-term deposits and ensure effective fund placement.

The role oversees the group's central management accounts, forecasts, and budgets, as well as monitoring groupwide capital expenditure. You'll support corporation tax returns in collaboration with external consultants and contribute to finance-related projects such as system upgrades.

You'll also provide expert support on complex accounting matters across the wider finance team.

About You



You must be qualified in a recognised professional accounting qualification preferably ACA or ACCA with proven experience in a practice or similar environment where the preparation of statutory financial statements and associated returns formed a significant proportion of the role.

Experience of cashflow management with an unwavering attention to detail, strong MS Excel skills and experience of dealing with large volumes of data are essential.
