The Head of FP&A (Financial Planning & Analysis) is a senior leadership position within the Business Partnering function, reporting to the Director of Commercial Finance. The role is pivotal in executing the Fast Forward strategy, delivering centralised planning, analysis, and insights to drive Channel 4's strategic and operational objectives. The Head of FP&A leads a team responsible for forecasts, budgets, long range financial planning, and executive reporting. They work in partnership with Finance Business Partners, the Reporting and Control function, and will also have oversight of the Technology, Capital and Costs function.
The successful candidate will be energetic, an excellent communicator, collaborator, and a credible leader. The Head of Finance, FP&A is a member of the finance leadership Team (FLT) and will be expected to deputise for the Director of Finance where necessary.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Performance Management
Prepare high quality materials for the exec and board containing clear, insightful analysis that tells the financial story
Oversight of consolidation and analysis of monthly P&L, cash flow, KPIs, and executive dashboards for senior executives and Board presentations.
Track business performance against KPIs and financial targets and proactively manage group risks and opportunities, recommending courses of action to ensure C4 hits its financial targets
Drive improvement in FP&A systems and governance, ensuring continuous process optimisation, and automation wherever possible, which is aligned with the wider finance systems roadmap
Champion data-driven decision-making and visualisation of financial performance, working with the insight team on KPI development
Build collaborative relationships with the Executive, and contribute to key strategic developments and decisions, providing sound insight and judgement.
Financial Planning
Ownership of, and accountability for, the integrity, validity and executive presentation of the C4 group FP&A processes (3 x year forecasts, annual budget and 3-year plan), co-ordinating and leading the end-to-end process, driving cross-functional alignment to support business goals
Provide strategic financial insight, scenario analysis, and recommendations to influence executive decision-making
Retain a focus on continuous improvement - an always on approach to planning & forecasting improvements across P&L and cash.
Technology, Cost and Capital allocation
Responsibility for managing the overall capex budget across the group - including responsibility for budgeting and forecasting, as well as oversight of the technology function
Champion 'always on' approach to cost management using cost analytics and external benchmarks
Provide the finance leadership around capital investment evaluation and operating efficiency initiatives
Introduce robust business cases to support capital investment for tech, product and other growth initiatives - and roll out a consistent format to be used across the organisation
Work with project teams to ensure sufficient rigour end-to-end, including ensuring cost savings and revenue upside is baked into plan, monitoring project spend and completing post investment appraisals
Leadership and People
Build strong working relationships with executive team and other key stakeholders
Be the glue that connects the Business Partnering finance team to the Group Financial Controllers team with excellent communication and planning.
Direct line management of Finance Manager, FP&A and the Finance Business Partner, Technology, Costs and Capital - running at team of 3 overall
Foster a collaborative, learning-driven, and performance-oriented culture.
Attract and nurture diverse finance talent, role-modelling values and behaviours.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with at least 10+ years' post-qualification experience.
Proven track record in commercial finance, FP&A, and business partnering in complex organisations, preferably in media, tech, or SaaS sectors.
Experience of leading teams and developing talent- able to deliver through others
Able to 'get stuck in' but also see the big picture- should be able to distil key insights from many different data sources into a clear plan of action aligned with business strategy
Expert at simplifying complex financial information succinctly for a broad range of stakeholders and 'telling the story'
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, comfortable interacting with, and presenting to the C-suite.
Highly organised, able to perform under pressure and at pace, and comfortable with ambiguity
Provide demonstrable evidence of thriving in a team environment & of building positive, productive relationships that foster teamwork and cooperation among people and groups.
Experience in capital investment appraisal, scenario analysis, and performance improvement initiatives.
Advanced financial modelling and analytical skills - that can be shared with the team
Comfortable working in a highly results focused, complex organisation, undergoing significant change
Previous broadcast media and content creation industry experience desirable but not required
Be adept at attracting and nurturing diverse finance talent, role-modelling the right values and behaviours.
High levels of personal credibility, professionalism and ethical standards
Be committed to and aligned with the Channel 4 remit

99,969.00

Hybrid working
From September 2023, C4 has operated a 60/40 working pattern, equating to three office days per week.
Having everyone in the office three days a week gives us more opportunity to build our high performing, inclusive culture; to collaborate and to learn and share with each other, as well as helping to coordinate a regular pattern of home and office working days.
