We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Healthcare to join our team at HMP Brixton, a category C Prison located in Brixton, London.
HMP Brixton is a category C male prison based in Brixton, London that focuses on training and rehabilitation. It is one of the oldest prisons in the UK and has a full healthcare team of around 70 healthcare professionals. The Healthcare team consists of GP's, Substance Misuse, Mental Health, Physio, Pharmacy etc.
We are recruiting a Head of Healthcare to oversee the Healthcare within HMP Brixton. The ideal candidate will have clinical and prison environment experience.
Hours
Monday - Friday
37.5 Hours per week
0900 - 1730
Salary
This position is full time, you'll receive an annual salary up to 375,000 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

What you'll be doing
As a Head of Healthcare, your responsibilities will vary. You will
  • As Head of Healthcare you will provide pro-active management of the healthcare services on site.
  • This will include maintaining the strategic direction of the service and delivering agreed contractual requirements and targets from NHS England.
  • Be responsible for delivering a highly functional clinical service, within the budget, with support from the finance business partner and regional manager.
  • Also form part of the wider prison senior leadership team, working with other key stakeholders to ensure that the contract becomes highly functional, and healthcare services become fully embedded with the prison as a whole.
  • Ensure agreed standards are achieved by leading, developing and motivating your team ensuring they receive appropriate supervision and performance appraisal.
  • Be the CQC registered manager and implement internal and external policies and procedures, particularly those with statutory implications.

  • Degree or appropriate equivalent level of experience or clinical qualification
  • Ability to influence and deliver information to key partners and stakeholders
  • Experience as a CQC registered manager, or equivalent registered body

  • Understanding of clinical governance
