Head Of Indirect Tax Uk/roi

Fareham, Hampshire, United Kingdom

Job Description

Are you an experienced indirect tax professional looking to work for a market-leading company who are renowned for its impressive business performance and exemplary company culture?

Are you an expert when it comes to providing technical advice and assistance on all indirect tax matters in the UK and ROI?

If the answer is yes, then we want you to manage our Indirect Tax function that provides indirect tax advice and identifies risks for the business as our Head of Indirect Tax.

Reporting to the Director of Tax for the UK and ROI, the Head of Indirect Tax UK/ROI will provide technical advice, assistance and support compliance to the business. You\'ll interact with different departments/stakeholders both internally and externally, which makes the role interesting and varied role where no two days will be the same.

You\'ll wear many hats, as you\'ll get involved in an array of tasks from managing queries from tax authorities and the business, communicating the implications of new commercial initiatives, assessing the impact of changes in legislation, audits, indirect tax compliance, systems, and processes, advise and monitor on custom duties, and be a key stakeholder in cross-functional projects (to name a few). You\'ll also assist with developing indirect tax strategy for the business and be a part of the Tax Governance Review management team.

It\'s a big role with a large amount of accountability and freedom, so we do need someone who is CTA qualified in addition to being ACA, ACCA, or CIMA-qualified. You\'ll have strong experience working in Indirect Tax in a senior/leadership position. You\'ll need to have a strong knowledge of VAT and customs duty legislation and their practical commercial application, alongside excellent accounting skills.

This role will be contractually based in our office in Whiteley, an average of two days in the office and the rest remote, but occasional travel to Guernsey and other locations across the UK will be expected. The role is a full-time position, but we\'re open to talk about flexible working - just pop your requirements in your application.

We know it sounds cheesy, but it really is our people who make Specsavers a truly exciting and inclusive place to work - it\'s a place you can call home and let your skills shine to reach your full potential. You\'ll be joining a team where talent is nurtured and grown with access to career development pathways and fully supported development opportunities.

So what are you waiting for? Apply now!

We\'d recommend applying as soon as possible. This role is usually very popular, and we may have to close the role early if we receive a high number of good-quality applications to ensure we can still offer the best candidate experience.

We therefore particularly encourage applications from candidates who may be currently underrepresented within our organisation.
