About the role:
The purpose of this role is to lead a team of Insights analysts. The Insights Group at LifeArc is a long-standing diligence and intelligence group of high regard internally, and also externally through the outstanding support that it provides to projects through our broad collaborative approach. The group is responsible for detailed scientific, competition and intellectual property background diligence and landscaping, working alongside internal and external experts, that informs not only on projects but also on the strategic areas of future translational research. As such it occupies a central role in informing new projects and strategy
About you:
Responsibilities include:
Effectively managing the Insights Group (currently a team of 20), delegating appropriately to Principal and Senior Analysts to drive an empowered, productive team unit.
Managing a team across all business areas and delivering on all priorities across the organisation.
Overall team leadership including resource and budget management.
Accountability for the team delivery of quality, patient and business focussed analyst reports that support our portfolios and review and where appropriate, publications.
Representing the whole team in discussions with senior stakeholders.
Accountability for ongoing competitive intelligence to ensure that unmet need remains and the projects prioritised remain astute investments.
Continuing to define and evolve due diligence processes to support governance around selection of new opportunities and portfolio management of existing opportunities.
Driving a culture of continuous improvement including the use of AI, streamlining and improving work processes as LifeArc evolves.
Essential experience required:
Strong scientific background
Extensive experience of performing due diligence and competitive intelligence in pharma and med tech sectors using state of the art information resources.
Experience of delivering diligence documents for internal and external audiences.
Broad technical understanding of life sciences translation, with evidence of expertise in more than one specific area relevant to role (e.g. drug discovery, drug development/clinical
,
scientific investments, digital health, disease areas).
Experience of projects at multiple stages of review/delivery is essential
Significant experience of matrix and line management and leading and motivating a high performing team.
Experience of managing team budget and resourcing.
Experience of managing multiple senior stakeholders.
Desirable:
Being recognised within and outside of their current organisation as a technical expert
Experience of diverse funding models in life sciences translation is desirable.
Experience of using technical knowledge to support an organisations' communications strategy including publications is preferable
Knowledge of drug discovery development is an advantage
Education:
Qualified to PhD (or equivalent) level in biological sciences.

Excellent project management and ability to manage complex competing priorities across a team.
Critical thinking and highly analytical approach to deliver clear risk assessments.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to clearly and concisely convey complex analysis in easy to interpret formats.
