What you'll be doing:



The highly skilled and experienced Life and Pensions compliance professional who will, as SMF16 for SJUK ad SJPIA, lead and oversee the Compliance activities for those entities. The role is also responsible for leading the Compliance Advisory team for the SJPUK and SJPIA entities. As trusted advisor able to provide high quality subject matter expertise and advice to the Group Compliance Director and the wider business on regulatory issues impacting SJPUK and SJPIA to ensure SJPUK and SJPIA meet regulatory expectations and industry good practice.


The role reports directly to the SJP Group Compliance Director. The role will also work to support the SJPUK and SJPIA Chief Risk Officer to discharge their responsibilities including reporting on Compliance matters to the SJPUK and SJPIA Chief Executive Officer and to the SJPUK and SJPIA Executive Committees and Boards.


Key Responsibilities:


Lead on setting the compliance priorities for SJPUK and SJPIA. Maintain a core understanding of the regulatory priorities and issues for SJPUK and SJPIA.

Act as trusted advisor and demonstrate judgement on regulatory matters. Clearly signpost regulatory risk. Provide top quality advice and subject matter expertise to the Group Compliance Director, wider Compliance team and business on regulatory issues impacting SJPUK and SJPIA. Input into the Compliance Planning cycle for SJPUK and SJPIA. Provide clear concise reporting to relevant Boards and governance and management fora on regulatory priorities and issues for SJPUK and SJPIA. Present, where appropriate, on regulatory issues impacting SJPUK and SJPIA to the SJP Board, ExCo and other relevant governance and management fora and engage with the leadership team and wider business on regulatory issues. Provide subject matter expertise, advice and challenge to regulatory and strategic projects relevant to SJPUK and SJPIA. Highlight regulatory risk. Provide subject matter expertise and advice on regulatory change impacting SJPUK and SJPIA to ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory expectations and industry best practice.

Working with the Regulatory Engagement team support the FCA and PRA supervisory relationships.


What skills do you need?

Detailed regulatory knowledge of the Life and Pensions sectors Good product knowledge, including pensions, collective investment schemes and other investment products. Extensive experience in Compliance Advisory roles within financial services, with strong understanding of the three lines of defence model. A demonstrable understanding of the relevant risk, compliance and regulatory considerations for SJPUK and SJPIA, including current areas of regulatory focus. A relevant professional qualification in financial advice and / or compliance industry qualification (CISI/CII or similar)
